After showing off a gameplay trailer in March, TwistedRed Games announces a delay for the free-to-play shooter Exomecha, moving its release to 2022.

With the challenges faced by the global pandemic, a number of games had to deal with delays in 2020. Unfortunately, 2021 looks to be shaping up much in the same way, as numerous upcoming games have already been forced to push back their release dates such as Hogwarts Legacy and The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. With even more highly-anticipated titles like Horizon: Forbidden West seemingly receiving delays in the near future, it was revealed that the Xbox and PC exclusive Exomecha has become the next game to get hit with a considerable delay.

This news comes via a Twitter post by TwistedRed Games, the developer behind Exomecha. According to the Tweet, the game's launch has been moved from August 2021 to Q1 2022. The studio cites a dedication to delivering a "flawless gaming experience" as the reason for the delay. With this extra time, the developers hope to "refine Exomecha as we've always imagined it."

This news is no doubt discouraging for fans looking forward to playing the game that looks like a blend of Crysis and Transformers. Despite this unfortunate news, the developers did give players a reason to be excited for the future. Even though gamers will have to wait until the beginning of 2022 to play the full title, the developers at TwistedRed Games plan to begin pre-release tests in September. The studio noted that the initial tests will be limited to the PC, as this provides "quicker iteration." Luckily for players on Xbox, the plan is to provide additional tests including "more people and consoles" at a later time.

Revealed in a trailer during the Xbox Games Showcase in 2020, Exomecha is the studios' interpretation of a free-to-play FPS. Featuring bullets, bombs, and lots of robots, this shooter seems to take advantage of the Series X's powerful specs with impressive looking environments, fast paced action, and vibrant explosions.

While a delay for a game is usually disappointing for fans of the project eager to try it out for themselves, this extra time hopefully means that players will get the experience they were anticipating. Keeping in mind that this is TwistedRed Games' first game, it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise that the developers need more time to complete their vision for the project. Nevertheless, with plans to begin pre-release testing soon, players shouldn't have to wait too long to hear more from the game.

Exomecha will be coming to PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in 2022.
