With anticipation higher than ever for The Mandalorian season 3, class act Giancarlo Esposito offered insight into what fans can expect.

At times, it seems as though the one thing the world can come together and agree on is that The Mandalorian is pretty good. After 2 seasons on Disney Plus and probably one of the coolest cameos of all time, fans are as eager as ever to see where the story goes next. Unfortunately, the show is sort of on the back burner right now as the Star Wars folks focus more on other upcoming series like The Book of Boba Fett, but according to Giancarlo Esposito, that doesn't mean viewers shouldn't still be excited.

Esposito, who embodied the wonderfully intimidating villain Moff Gideon during season 2 of The Mandalorian, recently spoke out just a little bit about the show's next season. Giving just enough information to keep everyone engaged without revealing too much, Esposito also offered the tiniest glimpse behind the scenes in his own charming and soft-spoken way. That chill personality still doesn't stop him from being typecast as a villain like in Far Cry 6, but he's trying.

"They just finished shooting [The Book of] Boba Fett and soon they will start on season 3," Esposito said when speaking with WRAL at GalaxyCon Raleigh. During the short interview, he also confirmed that he'll be returning for the next season of The Mandalorian, though he naturally wasn't able to elaborate on how he'll play into the plot going forward following Moff Gideon's capture by Din Djarin (the titular Mandalorian) and his team of comrades.

Aside from that rather agonizingly small bit of info regarding season 3, Esposito then pulled back the curtain a bit to elaborate just a bit on the actual filming of the series, specifically with regards to Pedro Pascal as the title character. "We never have to wait on Pedro," he said when asked whether Pascal's current filming schedule as Joel in HBO's upcoming The Last of Us series would interfere with The Mandalorian. "I know he'd love to be more off the helmet, but you know, his job is to be in the helmet." This refers to how another actor can play Din Djarin onscreen while Pascal adds his voice-over later, allowing for filming to commence even if he's not there.

Esposito's comments also seem to suggest that, even though Djarin appears to have become more comfortable removing his helmet over the previous season, he'll still spend the majority of the time in his full Mandalorian armor. That's not exactly surprising, of course, since that striking set of beskar plating is essentially the very image of the series itself. Well, at least that's the case now that Grogu (a.k.a. Baby Yoda) likely won't be a prominent element in the show from this point on.

Major details regarding The Mandalorian season 3 are still under wraps because it wouldn't be a Disney production otherwise. But Esposito's words might be enough to put some fans at ease knowing things are moving along smoothly. Here's hoping production begins soon, and also that Thrawn and Ezra finally get an official announcement regarding the Ahsoka series. (Hey, if someone is going to make hopeful wishes, they might as well keep going.)

The Mandalorian season 3 is currently set to arrive on Disney Plus in 2022.
