Electronic Arts shares the results of its annual prediction, foretelling the score of Super Bowl 55's Chiefs vs. Buccaneers game.

This upcoming weekend will play host to Super Bowl 55, the culmination of one of the most tumultuous seasons in the NFL ever played. This year's competing teams have already been decided. The Kansas City Chiefs will go up against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a battle of the NFL's top quarterbacks, Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady. As is now an annual tradition, Electronic Arts is celebrating the Super Bowl with a Madden NFL simulation. This year's Madden NFL 21 simulation appears to predict a great game.

The winner of this year's Madden NFL 21 Super Bowl simulation is the Kansas City Chiefs, who defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tom Brady by a score of 37-27. Unfortunately, EA didn't provide much in terms of a statistical breakdown or play by play for this year's simulation. What it did share is that the Buccaneers take an early 13-7 lead, but that the Kansas City Chiefs go up 14-13 by half-time. The second half clearly sees both teams' offense then take off.

With six minutes left in the fourth quarter, Madden NFL 21 sees the game tied at 27. It's here where the Super Bowl summary from EA doesn't quite provide a complete story for what happens. There's a red zone run from Mahomes that delivers a touchdown for the Chiefs, at the very least. Where the Chiefs' field goal comes into play and the defensive stops that keep the Buccanneers from scoring again are left to fans' imaginations. Suffice to say, those last six minutes very much go in the Chiefs' favor.

EA hasn't provided a full video of the Madden NFL 21 Super Bowl 55 simulation, which it hasn't done historically. Rather, it provided a video filled with gameplay clips and commentary from actor King Keraun portraying his Madden spokesman influencer The Spokesplayer. It isn't fully clear if EA does a single simulated game, if it does multiple and chooses the best, or how EA executes its simulation. Regardless, this is the official Super Bowl 55 prediction from Madden NFL 21 for this year.

Historically, Madden NFL's Super Bowl predictions have a decent record, but not reliably so. The franchise's more-recent predictions in particular have failed more than years prior.  Four of the series' last six guesses have been incorrect, though it did get last year's victory for the Kansas City Chiefs correct.

Whether or not Madden NFL's correct pic for last year continues, delivering both the Chiefs and Madden a win, remains to be seen. Super Bowl 55 will start on Sunday, February 7, at 6:30 EST. I'll be available to watch via CBS or on the CBS All Access app with a subscription.

Madden NFL 21 is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, Xbox Series X.
