Crystal Dynamics shares a substantial plan to overhaul the user interface in Marvel's Avengers and supply favorable quality of life changes.

Fan feedback appears to be paramount to the developments being made in Marvel's Avengers, with many upcoming changes being addressed as a result of direct fan interaction. Black Panther and the War for Wakanda DLC expansion are great incentives for players to turn their attention to Marvel’s Avengers, but there are even more features arriving alongside its new content.

Crystal Dynamics held a dev stream recently to share changes that will be arriving as part of Black Panther's expansion later this month, stressing that the concept is elementary in terms of what the user interface may look like moving forward. This insinuates that minor and major changes could be implemented later on as developments continue. Ultimately, these changes mark the beginning of an efficiency overhaul to the user interface and menu management in Marvel's Avengers.

Stephen Whetstine, Crystal Dynamics' UI Director, details the upcoming changes to Marvel's Avengers that benefit user experience. As shown, each of the game's sparse, confusing tabs are now neatly packaged into a single screen per character, emulating an RPG stat sheet. Whetstine takes fans through separate tab pages to demonstrate how tabbing through each menu is now a branching point rather than an isolated tab, which greatly concentrates its cohesion and clarity. As a fun decal, personalized menu screens are attributed with a color scheme that identifies each respective hero, such as green for Hulk and gold for Iron Man.

Several significant quality of life changes will also be implemented alongside the more explicit user interface changes when the War for Wakanda DLC launchesPreviously, faction terminals were only accessible at their respective outposts, such as SHIELD and the Inhuman Alliance, where players could select different daily assignments. Now, the update will make each faction's challenges accessible from any single terminal.

Further, inventory lockers in Marvel's Avengers were previously only accessible at an outpost between matches. Thanks to the update, a convenient shortcut to the inventory locker will now be available in each gear tab so that players may instantly stash or retrieve pieces of gear as they see fit. Resource management will also been streamlined when the latest expansion releases, with players being able to lock or dismantle gear items much more responsively and in their own tabs.

The new screen templates allegedly open up the opportunity for emote wheel functionality in the future, which is another feature fans have requested. Crystal Dynamics urges that the ability to create multiple loadouts will not be available right away, but the new user interface establishes a framework for that to be a possibility for Marvel’s Avengers in the future. Overall, these user interface and quality of life changes aim to create a smoother experience that makes the player's time on menu screens more efficient and convenient than before in Marvel's Avengers.

Marvel's Avengers is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
