The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD asks players to plant the Life Tree Seedling, but isn't clear on where to plant it exactly.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD brings one of Link's lesser known adventures to the Nintendo Switch. Although it features a unique combat system that takes advantage of the Joy-Cons (previously the Wii Remotes), the puzzles can be just as traditionally confusing as classic Zelda titles.

It's fine to skip an annoying puzzle if it's not necessary, but planting the Life Tree Seedling is required to continue the main story of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD. The Seedling grows the Life Tree Fruit, which players need in order to heal Lanayru so they can acquire his part of the Song of the Hero.

Players will receive the Life Tree Seedling in Skyward Sword at Lanayru Gorge, after reviving the Thunder Dragon for a brief time. Unfortunately, the game isn't very clear on what to do with it next. All players are told is that growing the Seedling to maturity in Lanayru Province is impossible.

To plant the Life Tree Seedling and grow the Life Tree Fruit needed to heal Lanayru, players should:

  • Travel to Faron Woods and enter the Sealed Temple
  • Use the Gate of Time
  • Find the hole in to floor next to where Groose was standing and plant the Seedling
  • Use the Gate of Time again

The fruit will now be hanging from the tree, and players will have to roll into the tree to drop it. Once the fruit is obtained, travel back to Lanayru in his Gorge and give it to him. After acquiring his part of the song, players will then need to return to Levias at Thunderhead. Land on his head and he will then teach Link the final piece of the Song of the Hero.

Players can also get the Hylian Shield from Lanayru. They must take part in his Lightning Round boss rush mini-game. The boss rush is quite a hard challenge, as Link can only use tools that were available to him during the story when he originally defeated the bosses. Link's shields and health do not regenerate after each boss fight either, meaning acquiring any prize from the challenge is a mighty feat.

Players can acquire the following prizes for completing each round of the Lightning Round boss rush:

  • Win 1 Battle - 20 Rupees
  • Win 2 Battles - Small Treasure
  • Win 3 Battles - 100 Rupees
  • Win 4 Battles - A Heart Piece
  • Win 5 Battles - 300 Rupees
  • Win 6 Battles - Rare Treasure
  • Win 7 Battles - 500 Rupees
  • Win 8 Battles - Hylian Shield
  • Win 9 Battles - 2000 Rupees
  • Win 10 Battles - 3 Rare Treasures
  • Win 11 Battles - 3000 Rupees
  • Win 12 Battles - 9900 Rupees
