In Warframe, a common Nightwave objective is to catch 6 rare fish on the Plains of Eidolon, so this guide shows where to find them.

Warframe can be a deceptive game. At first glance, it looks repetitive, endlessly shooting down and slashing waves of enemies.  But behind that first impression is a lot of variety.

There are several different mission types, abilities, and weapons to keep continued play fresh. Between missions, players can partake in minigames like laser mining, hoverboarding, and fishing. New Warframe players shouldn't miss out on these, both for fun and for the resources they offer.

There are multiple reasons to fish in Warframe. The fish can be traded for standing and crafting resources like fish oil. They can act as decorations for a player's orbiter or clan dojo. And they can be used for nightwave offerings.

Nightwave challenges are Warframe's version of dailies and weeklies. The nightwave radio station gives time-limited objectives, and points from those objectives can be used for rewards. A recurring challenge is to catch 6 rare fish in the Plains of Eidolon.

There are 4 rare fish available on the Plains of Eidolon: The Murkray, Norg, Cuthol, and Glappid. All four of these are baited fish, meaning they won't spawn normally, but will only appear using bait.

This guide will focus on the murkray and the cuthol, since these are the most reliable rare fish. Murkray bait costs 200 standing from Fisher Hai-Luk, or crafted with 2000 credits, 5 tralok eyes, 5 mortus horns, 10 Goopolla Spleens, and 20 fish meat.  Cuthol bait costs 400 standing, or can be crafted with 2000 credits, 5 marpico, 10 goopolla spleens, 5 murkray livers, and 20 fish meat.

Players should also have a fishing spear and luminous dye, which can be bought for 100 standing or crafted with 5000 credits, 10 iradite, and 10 ferrite. The dye highlights fish in the water.

Murkray can be found during the day and in the ocean. The best fishing spot for them is the bottom right shore, below the hillside ruin. Cuthol can be found at night and in ponds. The best fishing spot for them is in the inland ponds directly above Gara Toht Lake.

Players should look for a hotspot, which looks like a bubbling area. If one doesn't appear, clear the area of surrounding common fish, and it should spawn. After finding a hotspot, throw the corresponding bait and luminous dye into the water. Once the fish appear, the player should equip the spear and shoot them to catch them.

In order to avoid getting harassed by enemies, players should either choose a frame that can go invisible, like the Warframe Ivara, or a frame that can otherwise ignore enemy interaction, like the Warframe Limbo.

Warframe is available for the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
