The Abandoned PS5 app was supposed to deliver some kind of content to users at 12pm PT today, but it's running into some issues.

PlayStation 5 console exclusive game Abandoned has generated quite a bit of excitement since its reveal, mainly due to rumors about a possible connection with Hideo Kojima, Konami, Metal Gear Solid, and Silent Hill. While developer Blue Box Game Studios has denied that Abandoned has any association with any of the aforementioned entities, it has also done a lot to stir the pot, with cryptic marketing highly reminiscent of Kojima and outright teasing connections to his work.

Fans were set to get some concrete answers about Abandoned at 12pm PT today through the Abandoned PS5 app. Unfortunately, it seems as though the app has experienced some technical difficulties, making Abandoned's big demo debut fall a bit flat. The developers have addressed the situation on Twitter, confirming that the Abandoned PS5 app update has been delayed due to a "technical issue," but that work is being done to get it live as soon as possible. Whether that means later today or on a completely different date is unknown at this time.

Not long after tweeting out that information, Abandoned developer Blue Box Game Studios followed that tweet up promising to tell fans when the issue has been resolved. The problems with the Abandoned PS5 app have not been resolved at the time of this writing, and it's unclear exactly when a fix will come in. Fans online have been expressing their frustration, especially since the demo, trailer, or whatever it's going to be has already been delayed once before.

It will be interesting to see how the intrigue surrounding Abandoned continues after it gets a proper reveal. As it stands, all fans know is that Abandoned is set in the woods and seemingly features first-person gameplay. And while it may not explicitly be a horror game, it will certainly have elements of the horror game genre. Whether or not there's any connection to Kojima or his previous games remains to be seen, as Blue Box has continued teasing the connection despite outright denying it.

The most recent tease was a blurry image that Blue Box released promoting the release of this Abandoned PS5 experience. The background of the image included a blurred-out shape resembling the appearance of Metal Gear Solid's Big Boss character, albeit with his iconic eyepatch on the opposite side of his face. Prior to this, many fans had theorized that Abandoned was a secret Silent Hill game or was even the rumored Hideo Kojima horror game, though reputable insiders have said that game will be coming to Xbox, not PlayStation.

We will update this article once the Abandoned PS5 app is working.

Abandoned is in development for PC and PS5.
