A new rumor making the rounds online suggests that FromSoftware's next game is going to be a PlayStation 5 exclusive that's not Bloodborne 2.

Dark Souls developer FromSoftware releases new video games on a near-annual basis, and so it should come as no surprise that the studio is likely already hard at work on its next game after Elden Ring. While fans are unlikely to learn any official details until sometime after Elden Ring's launch in January 2022, leakers have potentially outed FromSoftware's next game as being a PlayStation 5 exclusive.

This rumor was first mentioned on the Real Deal Xbox Podcast, where it was said that FromSoftware was making a PlayStation exclusive game that wouldn't be the highly-requested Bloodborne 2, but would still be a Souls-like game. Afterwards, well-known leaker Shpeshal_Nick corroborated the rumor, indicating that they also heard that FromSoftware is making a PlayStation 5 exclusive game.

There are other rumors about a possible PlayStation State of Play event happening on Thursday, August 19. No official announcement has been made about the event and there is no concrete evidence backing up the claims. However, if the rumored State of Play does take place, fans shouldn't expect it to feature the reveal of the FromSoftware PS5 exclusive game, if Shpeshal_Nick is to be believed.

While PlayStation FromSoftware fans may be excited about the possibility of the studio working on another exclusive game, others may be disappointed that it's apparently not Bloodborne 2. A Bloodborne sequel has been highly-requested by fans since the success of the first game, but outside of the Dark Souls series, FromSoftware hasn't shown much interest in making sequels. It's always possible a Bloodborne 2 could materialize at some point down the line, but it seems fans will be waiting quite a long time for it if it ever does happen.

Meanwhile, there are persistent rumors that a Bloodborne PS5 remaster is in the works in some capacity, so perhaps that can tide over players who are hungry for more Bloodborne content. Such a project hasn't actually been announced, though, and so it's best for fans to keep their expectations in check. Even though there have been consistent rumors that a Bloodborne PS5 port is happening, it's always better if people avoid getting their hopes up about leaks and rumors.

For now, fans should take all of this information with a grain of salt. The only guarantee when it comes to FromSoftware is that the open world co-op game Elden Ring is next on the docket; whatever is coming after that is anyone's guess at this point.
