EA officially releases a short film for Battlefield 2042 known as Exodus, which confirms the return of a fan-favorite character from Battlefield 4.

EA released a short film for the upcoming release of Battlefield 2042 and it has several fans of the series hyped. Among other details included in the video is a returning fan-favorite character from Battlefield 4.

The recent Battlefield 2042 video gives fans of the series an idea of what world they will be competing in when the game releases in October. It also sets up some characters, including Kimble "Irish" Graves. Irish is a returning character from Battlefield 4 who many fans of the series celebrated the return of in response to the short film.

Irish is a returning Battlefield 4 soldier voiced by Michael K. Williams, known for his portrayal of Omar on The Wire, Moussa in Assassin's Creed, and Archie Baldwin in NBA 2K21. Fans of the Battlefield series were given a taste of Williams' performance in the upcoming game during EA's lengthy narrative setup for Battlefield 2042.

EA's Battlefield 2042 film focused on Irish, Clayton "Pak" Pakowski, Rao, and other soldiers. Pak accuses Irish of being a traitor for joining No-Pat and asked how much they're paying him. Irish confirms that his only loyalty is to the refugees on the warship they're both on, including Pak himself.

Pak threatens Irish that if he gives a character known as Oz an important case, the "terrorist" would start World War 3. Seemingly midway through a plan, Irish confirms with a look of dedication that he knows what he's fighting for. Alongside familiar characters such as Irish and Pak, the Battlefield 2042 short film introduces some new characters such as Irish's son.

As Pak is still recovering, the warship is attacked by multiple aircraft that try to evade enemies by sailing a warship into a category five storm, a feature already confirmed for Battlefield 2042. After a struggle against the aircraft, Pak is among several soldiers shot to death in the Battlefield 2042 video. Shortly afterward, Irish picks up a rocket launcher and destroys the jet that shot Pak.

After the conflict ends in the Battlefield 2042 narrative video, Irish retrieves Pac's dog tags and stares at them in defeat. Another fallen soldier sent out a final message before being defeated which Irish acknowledges before a call to arms. Irish finishes the Battlefield 2042 short film with a recruitment message to any "No-pat who will listen" to join the fight against Oz and his army. This will presumably be where players come in when Battlefield 2042 launches.

Although Battlefield 2042 won't have a singleplayer campaign, EA is still giving it a narrative touch with this short film. Other short films may be included in the announcements leading up to the game's launch in the Fall. Several Battlefield veterans are celebrating the return of Battlefield 4's Irish in the comments section of the short film.

Battlefield 2042 release on October 22 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
