Actor Elijah Wood appears on the Hot Ones series to talk about film, and comments on hopes for upcoming film adaptations of GTA, among others.

In a recent interview, Elijah Wood commented on several video games that might make for a quality adaptation into film, with Grand Theft Auto arriving at the top of the list. This specific topic appeared while the prolific Lord of the Rings actor was brought onto the YouTube series Hot Ones, answering questions specifically tuned to Wood's history with film and gaming.

The show Hot Ones, which is currently on its 15th season, is an internet series hosted by Sean Evans and produced by First We Feast, a production company that specializes in food based internet programming. Generally, the interviews follow the same template of asking celebrities questions while having them eat increasingly spicy wings, with host Sean Evans diving fairly deep into guests like Wood's history to get to the interesting topics like a Grand Theft Auto adaptation.

When addressing Wood's history with presenting video games and reputation as a longtime gamer, Evans asked about what game series or franchise might be best suited for adaptation into film. Wood immediately jumped to the universe of GTA, noting that Vice City and GTA 5 specifically would make for a great backbone for a TV show especially. Considering that Vice City is already partially based off the popular 80's series Miami Vice, that isn't too far of a stretch to see it hit serialization, which Wood also commented on specifically.

The conversation did also drift to previous adaptations as well, such as the Resident Evil and Silent Hill series of films, both of which were mildly adapted from mainstay horror games of the same names. Wood mentions specifically the way that the Paul W. S. Anderson films didn't lean too hard on the original game series, something that the actor hopes the upcoming Resident Evil reboot will change. Altogether, Wood shared plenty of opinions on the state of video game adaptations into film, many of which are far from controversial among general audiences.

As the interview continued, Wood goes on to talk about several other movies from the actor's career from appearing in over 60 films, as well as the upcoming title No Man of God. A previously viral video of the actor also comes up, as an incident in which Wood tried several of the hot sauces from a previous season of Hot Ones eventually led to the new interview taking place. Fans of film and Wood's previous career both inside and outside of Lord of the Rings are sure to get a kick out of the full interview as the actor comments on their fandom for Grand Theft Auto, film, and music collecting.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is available now for PC, PS3, PS4, Stadia, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
