From extraterrestrials and mythical animals to candidly recreating scenes from Western films like Django Unchained, Red Dead Redemption 2 has many Easter eggs for desperados to discover. Although, many can agree that the extinct colossal mammoth beast truly takes away the breath of players who stumble upon it.
Including Easter eggs in its games is a fan favorite Rockstar Games' tradition, but in Red Dead Redemption 2 these secrets feel like a more significant part of the world thanks to the title's protagonist. Upon uncovering an Easter egg, Arthur Morgan's unique way of phrasing things and his love of jotting things down in his journal make the Easter eggs much more memorable.

However, this time Arthur has to bury himself under the thickest coats available and stock up on the meatiest food around to find this secret. An enormous carcass of a prehistoric animal located in Grizzlies West, Ambarino can be uncovered by those brave enough to make the journey. Since the weather is bitter, various items of clothing, particularly garments labeled as “very warm” rather than “slightly warm” will do wonders when combatting the harsh temperatures of Red Dead Redemption 2.
Mountains, water places, and cliffs define the Ambarino. Most of the area is covered in dense snow, frozen bodies of water, and glaciers making it one of the few regions yet to be tamed and completely unexplored due to the sparse number of inhabitants living in the area. The state is a massive area divided into two constituent regions:
- Grizzlies East - The area lacks snow as the terrain is mostly covered with vast woodland. The environment is also volcanically active due to the presence of hydrothermal springs and geysers. In short, because most of the terrain is steep and inaccessible, visitors must use caution when traveling the trails.
- Grizzlies West - Severely isolated and dangerous, the area lacks any sort of settlements or towns. The region consists of mountain ridges, snow-capped valleys, and treacherous cliffs.
Unfortunately, between the two divisions, Grizzlies West is the more dangerous region in Red Dead Redemption 2, but West is where players will have to go to find the Easter egg.

For outlaws who manage to overcome the odds, they will come upon the mammoth partially covered by the snow, but its long curved tusks cracked through the ice to stand proudly above the snowy landscape. Players who possess some knowledge about giant, hairy, elephant-like creatures will soon discover that the remains of this animal are likely not from the famous Woolly mammoth. Instead, the remnants are more likely the much larger 22,000 lb Columbian Mammoth.
Additionally, the frozen prehistoric corpse is a point of interest, meaning once found Arthur will sketch it down in his journal. The journal is an item in Red Dead Redemption 2 that Arthur Morgan writes in. It details story and mission moments, animals, world interactions, and more.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
