Destiny 2 will be seeing plenty of changes once Season 15 comes, and its three Unstoppable Champion mods might hint at Scorn Champions finally coming.

As many fans may have noticed, Bungie has been doing a good job with Destiny 2 for a long while now, and especially so ever since the Beyond Light expansion was released in November of last year. The storytelling and the weapons have been great, and each new Season brings something valuable and unique to the game, all while also changing the meta thanks to the team balancing the sandbox and the rotation of seasonal mods and artifacts. A few days ago, Bungie revealed the seasonal Champion mods for Destiny 2's Season 15, and this sparked debates about what the point of having a whopping total of three Unstoppable mods is, especially considering there are not many Unstoppable Champions in the game in the first place.

However, it should be noted that there have been rumors, theories, and leaks about Season 15 being set in the Dreaming City over the past few months, and it would make sense because of the infamous 15th Wish that never truly happened in the past. The Dreaming City could be the best place to have the story initiated with Beyond Light to come full circle, as Crow could finally be reunited with his long-lost sister, even though he doesn't even know who she is to him, and Mara Sov could return to her throne. If that proves to be the case, then the Taken and the Scorn are likely going to be the main enemies of the Season, but the latter is also the last known enemy race to be missing Champions in their ranks.

By connecting all the dots here, it becomes apparent that the three Unstoppable mods might be there because the Scorn is finally getting Champions, and there is a very specific reason why they should have Unstoppable ones. There are currently four enemy races that feature Barrier Champions, three that feature Overload Champions, and three that come with Unstoppable Champions. By this logic, the Scorn are extremely likely to get both Unstoppable and Overload Champions, bringing the total to four Champions total per type across all six enemy races in Destiny 2.

The most likely candidates for Scorn enemy types to get the Champion treatment are the Chieftains and the Abominations, with the former fitting more in the role of typical Overload Champions, and the latter probably being Unstoppable Champions. This is in line with the behavior of the standard Scorn enemies since Chieftains are commanders of less powerful Scorn units and spawn elemental totems that do different things, while the Abominations are bigger units with heavy attacks and a certain resilience to attacks. Chieftains are also quite similar to Fallen Captains, whereas Abominations resemble the Hive's Ogre, which adds to the theory and its credibility.

Season 15 is also the biggest Season to date in Destiny 2, mostly due to the fact that the original plan on Bungie's part was to release The Witch Queen expansion late this year, but due to the pandemic, it eventually got delayed to early next year. This plausibly marks Season 15 as one that will last for five or six months at least, meaning that it has to offer new elements to make up for the lack of extra content for so long. That's why adding Scorn Champions might be a great move on Bungie's part, but that's not all.

Ultimately, adding more Unstoppable Champions is not the sole reason for Bungie to have three Unstoppable mods in the seasonal rotation, and it could also be a hint that PVE playlists for Season 15 will have use for them. Overall, the possibility that the Scorn will get Champions is quite high, and that could shift the meta even more based on how tough these enemies turn out to be.

Destiny 2 is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
