One dedicated collector of all things Final Fantasy is well on her way to earning a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records for her collection.

It's one thing to love Final Fantasy, but it's another thing entirely to collect almost 4,000 collectibles from the franchise. This is exactly what Redditor Taline has done, and it's truly a sight to behold. As if that wasn't impressive enough, she has also decided to take things to the next level and is applying for a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. According to her research, the current record holder has around 3,700 collectibles from the franchise, a number she can beat with ease it seems.

For some readers, it may be hard to imagine that there are even 4,000 different types of collectables from the franchise, but Final Fantasy has been around for a long time. There are 15 (going on 16) main entries in the series, and several more games if players count spin-offs and other off-shoots. The first game released in 1987, meaning it has been 34 years since the franchise first came into existence.

Doing some more digging, it seems as though the record in question here is officially called "Largest collection of Final Fantasy memorabilia," and is currently held by one Tai-Ting Tseng. According to the official website, they have a staggering 3,782 pieces of Final Fantasy memorabilia, and have held the record since February of 2017. If Taline is going to smash this four and a half year old record, she's going to need at the very least 3,783 pieces, but it seems like she has more than that. The official description of what counts for the challenge is a "mixture of Final Fantasy memorabilia including, toys, games, books, posters, clocks and plushies."

In her Reddit post above, Taline shows off a few photos from her collection. These include a wall of Final Fantasy games, an entire shelf dedicated to Chocobo plushes, clocks, and figurines, a gorgeous model of Cloud from Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children, and much more. She was unable to post every picture on the post above, but players can find more of her collection on her Twitter where she goes by the name of Yunalescka.

It just might be that fans are watching history in the making, and it will be incredibly interesting to see how her application goes. Although she seems fairly confident that she'll get the record, it's not decided until it's officially approved. Final Fantasy is truly a cultural phenomenon, and Taline is staking her claim for the world record collection of memorabilia from the iconic franchise.
