A fan of FromSoftware's action role-playing title Bloodborne shares an in-development mod that turns the game's point-of-view into first-person.

With rumors floating around that developer FromSoftware will not be making sequels to Sekiro or Bloodborne, fans of the company’s action-packed games are likely looking for other titles with similar gameplay, or a unique way to re-play the already available game. Recently, a modder has shared their upcoming project that interestingly turns the game’s third-person point-of-view into first-person, offering a new perspective for its many players.

The last time that FromSoftware launched a title was back in 2019 when Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was released. Given that the team is likely more focused on developing upcoming title Elden Ring, which has caused an online stir during the E3 2021 pre-shows, it may be a while before fans will get another official game in the Soulslike genre. So it is not surprising that players have taken it upon themselves to produce their own game modifications in order to have a fresh experience when playing older titles like Bloodborne.

The first-person Bloodborne mod is a project being developed by Garden of Eyes. In collaboration with well-known Dark Souls modder Zullie The Witch, the mod aims to shift the normally third-person perspective of the player in-game into first-person. This means that gamers step into the shoes of the Hunter and witness all events first-hand. Wielding different weapons, exploring the different areas of Yharnam, and facing the most challenging Bloodborne bosses will be experienced up close and personal, offering a completely different immersion from the original gameplay.

Garden of Eyes even went so far as providing a short video of what the mod would look like in action. Posting a two-minute clip on YouTube, the upload already has 1,200 likes and 11,000 views. Replies on the comments section even gave the viewers a brief perspective on the development process through a post by Zullie The Witch. Others shared about their excitement, and talked about the possibility of Bloodborne or other titles such as Elden Ring in VR.

Garden of Eyes has yet to reveal the release date of the Bloodborne mod or when players will be able to apply it to their game. However, they are asking for support on their Patreon to help them with the project's development progress. Given just how interesting the mod looks, and how avid fans of the Soulslike genre can be, it is likely that Garden of Eyes will be able to get the much needed support to make a truly fun first-person experience through their Bloodborne mod.

Bloodborne is available now on PS4 and is rumored to be releasing for PC/PS5.
