An advert gets posted to a CD Projekt Red jobs page calling for a camera programmer, which could suggest a new third-person game is being worked on.

Despite the commercial backlash after the rough launch of Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red has been hard at work trying to fix all the issues. With CDPR putting out the 1.23 update back in June, the open-world sci-fi title is edging closer to being the product it should have been from the start. Despite all this, it doesn't seem like CDPR is even close to being done for, as it's already started hiring new staff for what could potentially be a new game.

Posting an advert to a job page recently, CD Projekt Red has put out a call for a "camera programmer" to join the studio. The description specifically asks for someone with experience developing "real-time third-person perspective cameras." It seems quite clear that what the company is looking for is someone to work with them on the next project, which will have a focus on third-person. The advert doesn't specify what exactly the candidate will be working on, so this is speculation at this stage. What is known, however, is the position is located in Vancouver.

CD Projekt Red hired a combat designer in 2018, but that was for a game that the world already knew about. By that point, Cyberpunk 20777 had been in development for several years, and given the role the company was hiring for, it was pretty easy to put two and two together to conclude that combat would be an integral part of the game. All that's known from this latest job listing is that it has something to do with third-person perspectives, but no one knows what that entails.

As of this article going live, there have been no reports on what CDPR is working on. However, there have been hopes among the community that the next title could be The Witcher 4, but nothing has been confirmed yet. Whether this is what the camera programmer will be working on is anyone's guess. Perhaps they're looking to bring someone in to update Cyberpunk 2077 to include a third-person mode, but it would seem unlikely that it would hire a new person this late in, and several months after the game has already been out. It's more likely that CDPR are looking to start work, if it hasn't already, on its next game.

It could be possible the company is working on a completely new IP all together. Given that CDPR seems to rely on The Witcher and now Cyberpunk 2077, this may be an opportunity to venture out into new lands. Whatever the camera programmer will be working on, it's safe to say that the community will be hoping CD Projekt Red don't botch the launch, like with the last game.

Cyberpunk 2077 is available on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions currently in development.
