A streamer accidentally finds a bug that skips a chunk of Metal Gear Solid, which causes the speedrunning community to start running the game again.

No matter how long a game is supposed to last, how much content developers put into it, or how much work goes into making the game a challenge, fans in the community will find ways to speed through even the biggest of titles. Just recently, a speedrunner was able to complete Breath of the Wild in less than half an hour. Performing speedruns involves patience, practice, and the knowledge of bugs and glitches that can skip segments of the game. Sometimes these glitches are found by accident, as one Metal Gear Solid player discovered.

When Twitch user Boba loaded up Metal Gear Solid to play on stream, she had no idea that she was about to set the speedrunning community ablaze when a new tactic was accidentally discovered live on air. Uploading the clip to her YouTube channel, it shows Boba being chased by guards up a stairwell. She turns with her back to a locked door as enemies begin to fire. Suddenly, Snake disappears through the door and ends up on the next part of the stage, causing the streamer to pause in shock as the realization sets in.

Essentially, what's supposed to happen during this scene is the player is meant to climb up several flights of stairs while the alarm is blaring. However, when Boba stood by the door to take on approaching guards, the ensuing gunfight must have pushed her through the locked door. Metal Gear Solid is well known for its fourth wall breaking antics, but this is a case of a bug literally breaking through an actual wall.

This accidental skip has caused speedrunners to boot up the game once more and begin looking for ways to complete Metal Gear Solid even quicker now. Referring to is as the "boba skip," players have already begun working out new strategies, with one user believing the skip saves around 2:30 minutes. That's a long time in speedrunning, and could really see some new records being set for the community and for the famous and iconic spy known as Solid Snake.

With rumors that the indie game Abandoned is actually going to be a new Metal Gear Solid, the tactical spy title is on people's minds once again. With Boba discovering this skip, and it being clipped for everyone to see, the speedrunning frenzy may continue for a little while until the fan base knows for certain what the Abandoned conspiracy will yield in the end.

Metal Gear Solid is out now on PC and the original PlayStation.
