Don't underestimate the power of fashion in Square Enix's Neo: The World Ends With You. What are the best clothes in the JRPG?

One of The World Ends With You’s most unique mechanics returns in this sequel: fashion. Every character in Neo: The World Ends With You can equip any style of clothing in including dresses. Why that is not reflected in the game on someone like Rindo is beyond anyone’s guess. These clothing options boost stats like armor would in a more typical Square Enix RPG like Final Fantasy 7. Not only that but they also have hidden abilities equipped to them. For example, a watch may have the ability to boost experience points gathered.

In order to use these abilities, characters must meet the required Style guidelines. The clothing system is not as complicated as it sounds. What also isn’t complicated are these choices for some of the best clothing pieces in Neo: The World Ends With You. It should also be noted that playing the demo will net players a set of Neku’s clothes from the original game. These grant terrific boosts early on including Attack Boost III and HP Boost IV. Alternatively, they can be bought way later in the campaign.

Each clothing piece will be discussed by ability.

There is one big clothing item in Neo: The World Ends With You that has the ability called Turbo Charged, which makes pins recharge faster. This ability is killer for combat. This is attached to the perfume, Vacanza, which can be located at Il Cavallo Del Re.

This ability is nice but the accessory also boosts every stat in the game that isn’t HP. Vacanza is a trade item so getting it can be pricey, however, it is worth it.

There are tons of late-game clothing options that boost HP. The two best ones with equal stats include the Trendy Two-Piece. As it implies, this covers shirts and pants. This can be traded at the Joli Becot.

The other item is the Lovely Dress which also takes up two clothing slots. This can be acquired at the Natural Puppy

Slightly below those two dresses are the Jumpsuit for Neku at the Gatto Nero, the Flowing Silver for Rindo at the RyuGu, and Marine Dress for Nagi at the Top o’ Topo. They have lower stats but they boost HP more for the named characters.

Regen gradually recovers HP in the middle of battle like it does in other Square Enix RPGs. There are two items that have Regen III in Neo: The World Ends With You. The one with the better stats is an accessory called the Retroesque Boom Box

This is a literal boom box and can be purchased at Hog Fang. The other item is the Karma Shoulder Bag, a shoulder bag accessory, which can be acquired at Jupiter of the Monkey.

Cute Boost is an invaluable ability that boosts the power of healing pins. There aren’t many ways to heal in Neo: The World Ends With You. That’s why boosting the healing power is crucial to surviving some of the more intense battles.

The Notte Romantica is a dress equipped with Cure Boost IV. It’s an expensive trade at Il Cavallo Del Re, but it has huge stats so try and make the effort to get it for the dedicated healer of the party.

There are a couple of early items in the game that can help boost the amount of experience gained. The Golden Lighter has the better stats of the two accessories. It can be bought at Joli Becot.

The other item is the Spiked Wristband. This can be acquired at Tigre Punks. Both of these should be bought because the effects stack, making leveling up a breeze.

As the name implies, Attack Boost IV raises attack power in battle. The very best option is the Bondage Shorts, which boosts Beat only. The ability is nice but so are the stats. This is a trade item at Tigre Punks

Neku has an exclusive booster via the Leather Shoes. This can be bought at Joli Becot. They don’t have as high of stats as the shorts, but they might be the best shoes in Neo: The World Ends With You due to this ability alone.

There are two items in the game with good stats that also add in a greater defense boost. The better of the two is the Tiger Backpack, which is an accessory for Beat. This is also a Tigre Punks item.

The other is another pair of shoes for Neku called the Samsara Sneakers. It’s a trade item at Jupiter of the Monkey. These shoes are a good alternative to the Leather Shoes for players that favor defense over offense.

Leveling up in Neo: The World Ends With You only increases HP. That’s why it’s important to eat at restaurants in the game in order to permanently boost other stats like attack power. There is an ability called Metabo Boost that helps digest food faster thus allowing players to consume more.

The Hippie Dress has this ability along with decent stats, and it can be acquired at Garagara. The Lighting Shorts, from Jupiter of the Monkey, has much lower stats but is still valuable for the ability.

Once Shoka joins the party, a new ability will be unlocked called Killer Remix. If the party gets up to a 300% sync rate in battle they can perform an ultimate attack which will turn the tide of any tough encounter. Consequently, Killer Remix Boost is very valuable.

This booster ability can be obtained through the BHCC Baseball Cap which can be acquired at Black Honey Chili Cookie. There’s also the Hollyhock Blossom which can be found at RyuGu.

PP is like the experience points of pins and thus helps them level up. There are two good early accessories that have this booster equipped. There is the Flaming Blossom, which is an umbrella. That can be bought at RyuGu and has a decent attack booster attached as well.

Then there is the Chain Necklace at Hog Fang. Equip both of these accessories to boost the effects.
