With Back 4 Blood being only a few months away from release, here's everything that fans should know about the game's playable characters.

Back 4 Blood, the highly-anticipated spiritual successor to the Left 4 Dead franchise, is releasing in a couple of months. A few days ago, developer Turtle Rock Studios hosted an open beta for the game, allowing players to preview what to expect once Back 4 Blood releases.

Similar to Left 4 Dead, Back 4 Blood will feature co-operative gameplay and player vs. player combat. In addition, players will be able to choose one out of the eight playable characters known as Cleaners, and each of them will have unique abilities, perks, and storylines. Now, in anticipation of Back 4 Blood's release, here's everything players need to know about all the playable characters available in the game.

Walker

One of the characters that players can play in Back 4 Blood is Walker, who is the oldest of five siblings and was born in Evansbrugh. Personality-wise, Walker is a natural-born leader and will often keep his teammates in check and remind them of the dangerous situations that they are about to face. In Back 4 Blood's trailer, Walker is the character who is wearing a red baseball cap facing backward, a blue long-sleeved shirt, and all-desert colored boots, gloves, and backpack.

Character traits: Precision Kills grant +2- Accuracy for five seconds and deals 10% more damage. Walker also increases Team Health by 10%.

Holly

After her traumatic experience of losing her family to the Devil Worm, Holly focused all her energy and willpower into being a Cleaner and is also known as the glue that keeps the team together. Holly's preferred weapon is a nail spiked baseball bat, which she calls "Dottie." In addition, Holly sports red hair, wears a blue baseball cap, elbow pads, and a yellow sports shirt. Despite her past experiences, Holly is fun-loving, and she isn't shy about taking risks.

Character traits: Recovers 10 Stamina after killing a Ridden. Holly also has +10% Damage Resistance and offers +25 Team Stamina.

Evangelo

Next up is Evangelo, who is the youngest and least experienced Cleaner in Back 4 Blood. Despite his inexperience, Evangelo is a good fighter and has proven himself a loyal and reliable team member. Evangelo sports curly hair and wears goggles on his head. He wears a yellow backpack, a blue leather jacket with a grey hoodie underneath. Out of all the characters in Back 4 Blood, Evangelo hates the Ridden the most. He is also extremely protective of his hoodie, as he always complains whenever blood or other infectious liquids contact it.

Character traits: Evangelo can easily break out of grabs every 60 seconds. He has +75% Breakout Speed and +25% Stamina Regen. Evangelo also provides +5% Team Movement Speed.

Hoffman

Hoffman is the team's resident conspiracy theorist, which helped him face the new world after the infection thanks to being an enthusiastic prepper. After his mother's death and when his supplies ran out, Hoffman was forced to face the new world ruled by the infected. Although he doesn't have much combat experience, Hoffman is kind-hearted and genuinely wants to be a useful part of the team. Hoffman wears glasses and a red button-up shirt with a cargo vest on top. Of course, this may still change should Back 4 Blood introduce cosmetic items.

Character traits: Hoffman has a high chance of finding ammo whenever he kills a Ridden. He also has +1% Offensive Inventory and offers +10% Max Team Ammo Capacity.

Doc

Next up is Doc, who is described to have sacrificed her social life for a career. After the Collapse, Doc's no-nonsense attitude helped her survive the post-apocalyptic world ravaged by The Ridden. Doc also became an instrumental figure in keeping Fort Hope up and running thanks to her great combat skills and excellent work as a doctor. Players can spot Doc in the game as the woman who sports a bob haircut, glasses, and a white medical lab coat. Although Doc wears a nametag on her coat, it is impossible to make out. Her real name remains a mystery.

Character traits: Doc can heal low-health teammates even without using any healing items. She also offers increased Team Trauma Resistance.

Jim

Jim used to head out to the countryside with his father to hunt at an early age, making him extremely familiar with Finleyville and the surrounding county. After a brief stint in the military, Jim returned home only to find the world ravaged by the Collapse. Since then, Jim has been a loyal member of the Cleaners, and he spends most of his time exterminating Ridden infestations.

Character traits: Jim's Precision Kills increase damage, and he has increased Aim Down Sights Speed. Jim also boosts Team Weakspot Damage.

Karlee

Karlee is one of the survivors of Fort Hope. Karlee, trusting no one but herself, spends most of her time alone as an outsider. When she joined the Cleaners, some even thought of her as either a troublemaker or a looter. Given her independent nature, Karlee was hesitant to join the Cleaners, but eventually agreed to eradicate hordes of the Ridden.

Character traits: Karlee can sense nearby Hazards and has +1 Quick inventory. She also provides +1 Team Use Speed.

Mom

The last of the eight playable characters in Back 4 Blood is Mom, who got her nickname by constantly putting the needs of others above her own. Although she often questions the decisions made by the leader of the Cleaners, she remains a loyal and trustworthy member. After facing the tragic death of her son, Mom's main objective in the game is to eradicate the Ridden and make them pay.

Character traits: Mom can revive an incapacitated teammate once per level and has one additional Support Inventory Slot. Mom also gives +1 Team Extra Life.

Back 4 Blood releases on October 12, 2021, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
