A prominent Destiny 2 leaker claims that they've discovered plans for an upcoming Halo crossover that will celebrate Bungie's 30th anniversary.

Bungie, the creator of the Halo franchise and the developer of Destiny 2, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. Its history includes three games in the Marathon franchise, two Myth games, five Halo releases, and now two Destiny titles, with sixteen major releases total. It seems that Bungie is holding back from 30th-anniversary festivities, however, because it has big plans later this year. A leaker is now claiming to have knowledge of these plans, including a major Halo crossover.

Leaker Wish shared information about the upcoming Destiny 2 plans for Bungie's 30th anniversary on Twitter. It's unclear if Wish pulled the leak from the recent Destiny 2 "Zoom Leak" or if they have insider information on the matter. Regardless, Wish says that they expect a Halo-themed mission to be released on December 30. This mission, they say, will take place on the space station from the original Halo game.

The partnership is surprising if only because Bungie isn't officially partnered with Halo's IP owner, Microsoft, in any capacity. To have such a significant crossover would certainly require a serious agreement of some kind between Bungie and Microsoft. That Microsoft would appear to be willing to allow Bungie to not just feature Halo content, but to feature an entire playable Halo mission, is something else entirely. If the leak is true, there's clearly still a lot of respect between Microsoft and Bungie.

Regarding the supposed source for this leak, the massive Bungie "Zoom Leak," there is more planned Halo content to be introduced in Destiny 2 beyond a visit to a Halo installation. In fact, there's also supposed to be a second Halo mission, too. And beyond that, there could also be as many as four Halo weapons introduced in Destiny 2, as well as Halo armor sets for each Destiny 2 class.

Without official confirmation, these leaks should only be considered rumors until proven otherwise. Even if they're accurate now, plans could change by the time December rolls around, too. That said, it's an exciting possibility for Destiny 2 players and Halo fans alike.

Bungie has major plans for Destiny 2 going forward, plans that will last for years to come. Still, the 30th anniversary of the studio is too good of an opportunity for the company to press pause and reflect on what's come before. Halo and its fans helped make Bungie into the company it is today, and it's exciting that Bungie could get the opportunity to celebrate that with its current fans in Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
