A fan of the legendary Pokemon Rayquaza officially begins a fan art campaign to reimagine the flying dragon's typing.

Rayquaza is a Pokemon that has been part of the Pokedex since the release of the third generation in 2002 and fans continue to express appreciation for the dragon-type. One fan, in particular, is re-imagining the legendary Pokemon in various ways.

Reddit user Khironic68 recently posted their idea of what the legendary Pokemon Rayquaza would look like as an electric-type. In the Pokemon series, Rayquza is traditionally a combination of flying-type and dragon-type, but Khironic68 is imagining it as all of the other types. Khironic68 will continue to work on alternative types of Rayquaza such as ghost-type and dark-type, but they've begun the artistic venture with electric-type.

Khironic68's electric-type version of Rayquaza has a color combination that will feel familiar to fans of the electric Pokemon. This version of Rayquza is mostly a combination of black and yellow, with some bright blue thrown in the mix as well. Instead of the intricate patterns on the standard Rayquaza, Khironic68's electric legendary Pokemon has a zigzag pattern and a jagged skull to match.

This electric Rayquaza has a main of blue electricity and has a couple of shackles wrapped around its snake-like form that protrude the blue electricity as well. Just like the original Rayquaza, Khironic68's electric-type version features piercing eyes with pinpoint pupils. The two most notable changes are the addition of a blue gemstone on its chest that seems to power its electricity, and a thunderbolt tip to its tail akin to Pikachu.

One Reddit user made the fitting comparison between Khironic68's electric-type Rayquaza and Metalseadramon from the Digimon series. This sturred up speculation that their water-type would be a basic Seadramon, while the flying-type may resemble Airdramon. Digimon fans that also happen to be Pokemon fans often see similarities between the two franchises and fan art like Khironic68's make it easier to see where they're coming from.

According to Khironic68, they used a reference image from Shin Art on YouTube to create this electric-type Rayquaza. Several Pokemon fans that enjoyed the fan art suggested moving on to other types of Rayquaza, such as bug, fairy, fighting, fire, normal, poison, rock, and steel. One fan of Khironic68's Rayquaza suggested calling his electric-type legendary Pokemon Zapquaza.

While the Pokemon Reddit community is expressing enthusiasm with Khironic68's fan art, the electric-type Rayquaza's tail leaves some divided. Khironic68 has indicated that they intend to recreate Rayquaza in various ways, but hasn't suggested when the next fan art will release. Considering the standard Rayquaza has a combination of types, Khironic68 may decide to go even further with the idea.
