Perhaps one of the most highly-anticipated pieces of media set to come from Disney Plus in the near future is The Book of Boba Fett. There's also the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Plus nobody can forget the upcoming Rosario Dawson-led spinoff Ahsoka. Ok, so maybe there are way too many highly-anticipated Star Wars things coming up, but they all look pretty good, and this one is coming soon so it gets some attention right now.
The Book of Boba Fett wowed audiences everywhere when it was first teased at the end of The Mandalorian season 3, and that's just from the knowledge that the show exists. If nothing else, it proves just how ready the Star Wars faithful are to see the rugged clone finally get a real chance to shine. Granted, there are still a number of months between now and its premiere, but producer Robert Rodriguez is more than willing to keep that hype train moving in the meantime.

Rodriguez recently spoke with Collider about the upcoming series, and his confidence in the project appears to be nothing if not abundant. "Wait until you see what’s coming. It’s going to blow your mind," he said eagerly, though holding back any restricted tidbits of info. "That’s all I can say. I can talk it up all I want, because I know it over-delivers. It way over-delivers. People are going to be so pumped when they see it." Well, as biased as he may be given how he's directly involved with the Star Wars series, it's hard not to be a little jazzed by that sort of enthusiasm.
Who can blame him, really? The Book of Boba Fett looks to give the titular bounty hunter the sort of storytelling that would befit someone who has enjoyed his level of popularity over the years. Starring Temuera Morrison as Boba himself and Ming-Na Wen as his new partner in the business Fennec Shand, the series will apparently follow the two as they move through the criminal underworld. Based on the teaser in The Mandalorian, it looks as though it may feature a revenge plot, and if John Wick has taught anything, it's that revenge stories can be pretty dang fun.
This is a unique opportunity to retroactively give a fan-favorite character a reason to be a fan-favorite. Boba Fett has always been that character everybody saw as super cool, up to and including toy manufacturers who never missed a chance to make a new figure of the armored hunter. Back in the day, much of that popularity came from the books in the Star Wars Expanded Universe (and lots of fan imaginations). But now that it's all just " Star Wars Legends" and non-canon, Rodriguez and the rest of the team have a chance to build their own legacy for the character.
So that's just one more reason to be excited for The Book of Boba Fett. Whether or not it lives up to the hype has yet to be seen. But after Fett's showing on The Mandalorian, it's hard to imagine a situation where more of the character wouldn't be welcome.
Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett is slated to premiere on Disney Plus in December 2021.
