Electronic Arts shares a first glimpse at Battlefield Mobile with four screenshots shared as part of an announcement about upcoming testing.

Hardcore shooter fans may be waiting for the release of Battlefield 2042 later this year for their dose of intense multiplayer action, but that's not the only Battlefield shooter coming soon. Electronic Arts is also working on Battlefield Mobile, a portable version of the popular shooter franchise planned for release in 2022. EA has been keeping details regarding Battlefield Mobile close to the chest, but dropped the first screenshots for the game as part of an announcement regarding upcoming international playtests.

Four screenshots for Battlefield Mobile were shared in an update to the game's Google Play profile, which changed with the announcement of upcoming playtests. The four screenshots touch on different features planned for Battlefield Mobile. First is "Competitive Gameplay," naturally. The second is "Unique Classes with Exclusive Heroes." After that is "Massive Arsenal," in reference to vehicles. Lastly, and surprisingly, is, "Large-scale Battles, Large-scale Destruction."

The four screenshots each depict a bit of Battlefield Mobile gameplay coinciding with the description. The first screenshot shows at least four different players on-screen with active ongoing gunfire. The second screenshot shows a menu depicting four Battlefield Mobile specialist classes, as well as the player's loadout of main weapon, sidearm, grenade, and other equipment options. The third screenshot, as well as the fourth, show a tank in action. The fourth, however, also shows that Battlefield Mobile features destructible environments.

As noted, the screenshots arrived as part of an announcement for upcoming Battlefield Mobile playtests. Unfortunately, EA appears to be planning to test Battlefield Mobile in non-US markets to start. These first playtests will be exclusive to Indonesia and the Philippines. They'll be accessible only on Android and will start this autumn. As the tests progress, EA will bring them to additional regions and will expand the size. Expect a larger announcement when Battlefield Mobile is ready to come to the US and other major regions.

Very little is otherwise known about Battlefield Mobile, its gameplay, and overall style and setting. The screenshots appear to confirm it's set in a modern-day setting with appropriate gear, weapons, and vehicles. Previously confirmed, Battlefield Mobile will feature just one map, Grand Bazaar, and a single game mode, Conquest.

With playtests coming soon for Battlefield Mobile, it's just a matter of time before interested mobile gamers will get to see plenty of in-game action. Then Battlefield fans will be able to see just how many players can join matches, what kind of matchmaking options will be available, and just how destructible those destructible environments really are.

Battlefield Mobile is in development for mobile devices.
