Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is an upcoming fighting game, borrowing the template of the Super Smash Bros series, basically replacing Nintendo's roster with the many mascots from Nickelodeon cartoons. Gameplay previews for the game look promising so far, with a solid list of available fighters, it should be a blast for fans of the shows and gamers just generally looking for a new fighting game in their collection. with the countdown beginning for its impending fall release window, fans will soon be able to duke it out as SpongeBob, CatDog, and all their other favorites.

The game isn't due out for another few weeks, so fans of these beloved cartoons still have some time to wait before jumping into the action. For fans of the shows, here are some of the best games based on all of these wacky cartoon characters.

SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle For Bikini Bottom

SpongeBob and his many friends who live under the sea have received numerous video game adaptations, but most would agree that the best of the bunch is SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle For Bikini Bottom. Borrowing from other popular collectathon games like Super Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie, the game features SpongeBob exploring Bikini Bottom in a quest to stop Plankton once again. The title had a surprising level of depth, with enjoyable mini-games, tons of addictive unlockables, and some solid gameplay mechanics. For any gamers who happened to miss out on the game back in the day, there is a remastered version now available on PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

Nicktoons Unite!

For anyone who grew up with these cartoons and has a soft spot for Nickelodeon in general, this title is like a dream come true. Featuring characters and levels from SpongeBob SquarePants, Danny Phantom, and The Fairly Oddparents just to name a few, the game's story sees all of these beloved mascots unite to stop an evil plan formed by a league of evil villains from a number of different Nickelodeon series. Each character has specific abilities that are useful for certain situations and considering it supports multiplayer, this is just good old-fashioned fun.

The Legend Of Korra

Considering the premise of Avatar: The Last Airbender and its sequel series The Legend of Korra, the franchise is a perfect fit for video games. The characters being able to bend elements at will is the perfect setup for an action game, and while some releases had middling success, The Legend of Korra in 2014 proved to be a decent thrill ride. Much of this is due to the studio behind the project, PlatinumGames, which is responsible for some of the most genre-defining action games in recent memory like Bayonetta and Vanquish. For any gamer that's wanted to live out the potential of pulling off the extraordinary feats seen in the cartoon, this game is definitely worth a look.

Rocket Power: Beach Bandits

Although not as well remembered as more popular franchises like SpongeBob or The Fairly Oddparents, the Rocket Power cartoon had its share of fans as well, perfectly tapping into the skate culture still popular in the early 2000s. Considering the skateboarding theme, the title naturally draws influence from the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series, featuring arcade controls and a variety of environments to pull off wild skate moves in. It's no masterpiece and nothing revolutionary, but for fans of extreme sports and classic cartoons, the game is more than worth a try.

Nickelodeon Kart Racers

Finally, Nickelodeon Kart Racers is a solid, fast-paced racing game starring many of the most popular characters from the company. While obviously a Mario Kart clone, just like how Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is drawing influence from Super Smash Bros, it makes a good effort to have its own style. Each character has specific abilities to give them an edge during races, while locations are taken directly from the many cartoon series. For added effect, being a Nickelodeon game, the game features tons of the companies' trademark slime to race through.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl releases on October 5 for PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
