Aquaman's Jason Momoa dropped some big news on his Instagram. The 42-year-old actor hit social media with a never-before-seen image of his new superhero suit.
Momoa has been famously playing the DC character Aquaman since 2016 when he starred in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. He went on to make an appearance in Justice League before landing his own title flick Aquaman. Starring alongside Momoa in the superhero film were actors Amber Heard, William Defoe, and Patrick Wilson. Momoa is confirmed to be reprising his iconic role in the forthcoming sequel, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

Garnering some excitement for the upcoming sequel, Momoa took to Instagram to share two images of his flashy garments. The first image featured the character's most notable get-up: a long-sleeved golden top and dark green bottoms. Momoa was also holding his powerful golden trident while looking sternly at the camera. The second image showed the actor in a newer look. He wore a dark teal outfit with gray padding. Both ensembles were covered in the character's signature scales. "Second round. New suit. More action. #aquaman," captioned the actor.
Fans and peers of Momoa rushed to the post to comment their praise and excitement. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson wrote, "Hell yeah looking great uso!!!" Comedian Arron Crascall expressed, "Let’s gooooooo do you need a stunt double?" Hawaiian surfer Kala Alexander chimed in with a bold opinion. He wrote, "I dunno I like the first one better, but maybe the second one will grow on me."
Aquaman director James Wan gave some insight on the darker look, calling it the character's "stealth suit." The Australian filmmaker wrote on Instagram that it's "Atlantean tech based on cephalopod’s camouflaging ability." He added, "David Leslie Johnson [screenwriter] and I were inspired by the 80’s 'blue suit.'"
The Aquaman sequel is slated to drop in late 2022. Many of the original cast members are expected to reprise their roles. While very little is known about the sequel, it comes highly anticipated by fans as the first installment was met with high audience reception (despite its mixed reviews from critics). It has since been praised as DC's best superhero project.
Sharing some brief insight into the upcoming flick, Wan told IGN back in July that scriptwriter Johnson was key in "finding a really cool story to bring all these characters back, and then growing them in a big way, and taking them to the next level or the next chapter of their lives."
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is expected to premiere on December 16, 2022.
