One Reddit user has a problem with an Xbox One that is, despite its design, overheating, so they cobble together a makeshift cooling system.

The Xbox has become more to many players than just a console, it has become something integral to their gaming identity. For many players, an Xbox console is remade as a work of art, while others collect Xbox controllers, of which there is a staggering variety.

But that doesn't mean that the Xbox console line is not without some problems. Historically, these have ranged from mild annoyances to quite severe, but one that doesn't crop up too often is overheating for the Xbox One. However, one reddit user discovered that their Xbox One was, indeed, growing far too hot, and something had to be done about it.

The solution came in the form of a small fan used to cool the Xbox One down. While the Xbox One's internal system is designed to prevent overheating, the external cooling would still help alleviate the problem, if not solve it. However, the fan is too small to fit on the same surface as the Xbox One, so the Reddit user placed it on top of a precarious surface. When this proved inefficient, they tried another solution: creating a tube of plastic and tape to direct the airflow of the fan from a distance.

It makes for a bit of a silly image, but the result is that the fan's airstream is directed straight at the Xbox One, presumably at the overheating section. Hopefully, this does cool the console down enough for it to work safely. The ultimate source of the overheat likely merits further investigation, since the Xbox One should not be growing so hot in the first place and it may be caused by an internal substance.

As bizarre as the cobbled-together cooling device looks, it is nowhere near the oddest nor the most creative solutions players have come up with concerning Xbox consoles. More recently it was fans who found a way to combat crashes on the Xbox Series X version of Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War. Long before that, there were numerous solutions for trying to deal with the red rings of death on the Xbox 360.

When it comes to making playing games or using devices players have a lot of ingenuity. One player even created a full Google Maps style site for Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
