The Elder Scrolls' Mehrunes Dagon may be evil, but that doesn't stop one fan from recreating their Skyrim artifact with an impressive added feature.

As The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim fast approaches its tenth anniversary, the fan base is still keen to let loose some of its skills, bringing characters and artifacts from the RPG title into the real world. Recently, one Skyrim fan made the Amulet of Mara from real silver, and another was able to recreate the franchise's iconic sweet rolls. While much fan art, cosplay outfits, and reimagining of weapons and items are often linked to the heroes, heroines, and noble pursuits of the game, one fan decided to create something that has its origins in pure lore-based evil.

Uploading a quick video to the Skyrim Subreddit recently, a user with the rather fitting handle Alchemist3d has shown off their 3D printing skills by making Mehrunes' Razor, the powerful dagger that belonged to the Daedric Prince Mehrunes Dagon, who players encounter in the previous game. While the recreation is impressive enough as it is, what the user has done is make the dagger in individual bits, then attached magnets to the pieces which then attach to each other to make Mehrunes' Razor whole again, as demonstrated in their clip.

Many in the comments have left words of praise at the skill that has gone into the artifact, with some, unsurprisingly, very impressed with the clever magnet idea. Replying to one comment, Alchemist3d said they'd downloaded the image of the dagger from Thingiverse which is a site that archives models for use in 3D printing. They then split it in Windows 3D Builder, before adding the holes for the magnets. Overall, it's an incredible looking fan-made item that really shows off the user's clever creativity.

One of the things about Mehrunes' Razor is its sheer power. It has the potential to kill an enemy in one swing, and for that reason, the dagger is often coveted by the Elder Scrolls' Dark Brotherhood. It's also a curious weapon, as not only is it extremely sharp and deadly to use, but it's also described as being made from different materials, depending on which entry in the series it's featured in. If anything, that only makes Mehrunes' Razor even more engimatic and powerful.

Fan recreations of aspects from Skyrim such as Whiterun being made in Valheim is nothing new. But what people like Alchemist3d show is that the game is still beloved by the community almost a decade on. The world may be ready for the next Elder Scrolls installment, but for now, fans will continue to utilize their skills to impress people and show their love of the game.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim is available on PC, PS3, PS4, Switch, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
