More than 10 years ago, programmer Markus "Notch" Persson unleashed Minecraft into the wild, with little idea of just how much it would have an impact on the video game world. Despite many still believing that the Mojang blocky game is somehow only meant for kids, it's become an extraordinary phenomenon which has captured the imagination of millions of fans. Many have created some incredible structures, and this one fan stands alongside the best of them as they recently unveiled their incredible build.
Posting to the Minecraft subreddit, user MolyMolly13 has uploaded a number of images showing their latest build, a replica of the huge, and very famous, Christ the Redeemer statue situated in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. While there is no scale that indicates how big the user's build is, the images depict the ground below as being quite far away, with some of it fading into the distance. This hints at the enormity of the construction, and one of the most impressive things about it is they say they made it in two days.

Some in the thread have left comments expressing how impressed they are with not only the detail and accuracy of the statue, but also that it only took them a couple of days to complete. MollyMolly13 also doesn't give any specifics about how their version of the statue was made. Looking at the images, it's not easy to see what material was used, however, given that parts of it seem translucent, it's entirely possible that it was made using Minecraft glass or at least a color version of it.
Sheer skill aside, it's perhaps not too surprising that this Reddit user was able to create such an enormous and finely crafted structure. Minecraft is noteworthy for its excellent building mechanics, and there are so many in-game resources, and tutorials, and so many new things being added, that such beautiful creations are possible, and the fans are more than willing to show them off.
Given how large the game is, Minecraft boasts near endless replayability, and a lot of that comes from the creativity of the community. MollyMolly13's creation is an incredible example of the kind of creativity that goes on in the fan base. There are so many ways for players to express themselves, and the Christ the Redeemer statue is perhaps something that is close to this user's heart, or maybe they just thought it would be a fun challenge to see what they could build in just two days.
Minecraft is available now for various platforms.
