Chelsea Manning, banned from entering Canada for releasing classified US information to WikiLeaks, reaches out to xQc as a joke.

Canada is home to some of the most famous gaming personalities today, as well as some interesting gaming statistics. However, while game-wise it may be well known for the Nintendo Switch sitting as Canada's best selling console for over two years, it's a different story when it comes to politics.

Moving to Canada to escape America is a cliched joke passed around Americans all the time, but for Chelsea Manning, it is a reality she is attempting to enact. However, Manning is famously a criminal and whistleblower, responsible for leaking US military secrets to WikiLeaks. In a recent tweet, she reached out to an odd figure for advice on getting out of her predicament: famous Twitch streamer xQc.

To explain further, Manning's infamous leak landed her jail time, which was commuted by President Barack Obama. Now she wants to leave the country, but Canada has her literally banned due to her criminal background. The reasoning is hardly unique, as Canada regularly turns away those with a criminal record from the border, but Manning's case, where she leaked secrets about the US armies activities in Iraq and Afganistan, is far from typical. Her tweet asks xQc "how do you get around this," and is likely a reference to the fact that xQc has been banned from Twitch five times.

The tweet is almost certainly meant as a joke, and it lands pretty well considering the gravity of Manning's situation. XQc's bans from Twitch have come about for a variety of reasons, many of them strange. While his most recent ban has no reason behind it disclosed yet, the one before that was because xQc watched the Olympics live on stream. His first three, however, are for less savory but still silly reasons.

It is also possible that the tweet is in semi-solidarity with xQc, considering his recent problems. People continue to break into xQc's home, and it has become an ongoing problem that has pushed him away from his house. Similarly, Manning may soon find herself unable to return to a country, let alone home, where she can live peacefully.

It may seem odd for Manning to make a joke about xQc, but Manning is also a part of the gaming community, even having semi-regular gaming streams. As of this article, xQc has not responded and may not at all. Still, it's interesting that xQc getting recorded laughing at a Walmart cashier is no longer the strangest thing associated with him. Manning's admissibility hearing is scheduled for October 7.
