Four years since the release of Breath of the Wild, players continue to make discoveries in the game such as a new trick using Spicy Peppers.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was released over 4 years ago, and players are still discovering new things about the game. From ways to fly without a paraglider to discovering a clone of the Old Man on the Great Plateau, the game seemingly contains a never-ending amount of intended and unintended secrets to uncover. Recently, one player found a new use for the Spicy Peppers found in the game.

While there is never a shortage of things to do in the world of Hyrule, one task players frequently find themselves doing is cooking meals in Breath of the Wild. One of the core mechanics in the game, cooking food restores Link’s health. Furthermore, some food items give Link additional perks when eaten. One of these foods is Spicy Peppers. When prepared in a recipe, this hot food raises Link’s body temperature and increases resistance to cold weather. However, one gamer found out that these Spicy Peppers have another useful property that doesn’t involve being eaten.

In a post on Reddit, one user known as tetr4_hc showcased a trick to gain some serious altitude by using this seriously spicy food. The clip starts with the player collecting a bunch of Spicy Peppers from the inventory and then tossing them on the ground. An important note is that the player needs a way to gain some initial height in order to use the Spicy Peppers effectively. To accomplish this, tetr4_hc utilized Revali’s Gale to create an updraft.

Using this ability, the player is launched into the sky along with the Spicy Peppers. After reaching the peak of the updraft, the player shoots fire arrows at a couple of the Spicy Peppers flying in the wind. The explosion created causes Link to fly even higher into the air. The player then repeats the process one more time gaining even more elevation. Through using these Spicy Peppers, tetr4_hc managed to gain significantly more height compared to using Revali’s Gale separately.

The Breath of the Wild community on Reddit has been very intrigued with this discovery by tetr4_hc. With over 11,900 upvotes, many gamers are excited to give this Spicy Pepper trick a shot. Some fans commented that they liked this new trick better than some others found in the game because it seemed like an intended ability and less like a glitch.

It’s amazing that after years since launch, players are continuing to find new ways to use items such as Spicy Peppers in the game. With the release of Breath of the Wild 2 expected next year, it will be interesting to see what hidden secrets players uncover in that game as well.
