The Call of Duty: Vanguard beta weekend is almost over, and some players report experiencing major performance issues in the PS4 version.

As the first Call of Duty: Vanguard beta weekend comes to a close, a number of fans who played the game's beta version on PS4 appear to have some complaints. Reportedly, the PS4 beta version of Call of Duty: Vanguard has been plagued by major performance issues that made playing it a bit of a slog.

The first beta weekend was reserved for PlayStation players who preordered the game. The Call of Duty: Vanguard beta saw updates and improvements while it was still underway, which may bode well for the game long-term, but according to some players there are many more technical issues that still need fixing.

Redditor Wedclark shared a short video of themself in the Call of Duty: Vanguard beta, struggling to shoot accurately and missing upwards of 11 shots at a single, seemingly stationary target. After firing about 12 shots, the player is shot and killed by an enemy behind them, having apparently failed to land a hit. Another user did provide possible explanations for this failure, mostly involving shots that simply missed or recoil messing with the player's aim, but the sheer level of inaccuracy may still raise an eyebrow.

Another player, Twitter user and Twitch streamer @DramaticReplays, shared a 30-second-long video highlighting the game's poor visibility. The video features several sequences where the player unleashes a storm of bullets on foes and apparently fails to hit anyone, all while calling the game broken.

A second Twitter user, @NotSimonb1471, attacks influential figures like CharlieIntel for praising the game. @NotSimonb1471 claims that Call of Duty: Vanguard, rather than breaking sales records or being the best game of the year, will be dead in three months. They go on to state that the problem with the Call of Duty franchise is influential people praising an appalling game, thus leading people to believe this is an acceptable standard for a game that generates billions of dollars.

As of writing, it appears that other beta players agree that visibility is a problem. One Redditor commented that they're about to leave the fandom because Call of Duty games keep focusing on realism over fun. Another claims that the 2019 Modern Warfare game, despite also having visibility issues, is still better than the beta version of Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Other fans state that regardless of these issues, Activision is likely to prioritize Call of Duty: Warzone over fixing problems in the upcoming Call of Duty: Vanguard game. Whether or not Call of Duty: Vanguard's visibility, lag, and frame rate issues will be addressed in the future beta weekends, currently scheduled for September 16-17 and September 18-20, remains to be seen.

Call of Duty: Vanguard launches November 5 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
