The game of basketball has always required a strong center. Even as the three-pointer has taken off, teams still search for a good shot in the paint before taking a long-distance bomb. This fact remains true in NBA 2K22, as teams with weak centers find themselves getting slashed into submission.

There are plenty of teams that need a center, but not all of them deserve one. There are only a handful of teams one big man away from winning a championship. These are the teams that can take MyPlayer all the way to the top of the mountain in NBA 2K22.
What To Look For
Most importantly, the player doesn't get a chance to start until their own OVR surpasses the OVR of the starter, regardless of how well they play or the kind of stats they put up. So the first step is to find a team with a center that is 80 OVR or less.
Next, the team should be solid. Especially for centers, if the guards are bad, opposing teams will rain down threes without anything they can do about it. Controlling the paint makes a difference in the game, but even the most veteran players can't do everything.
Indiana Pacers
PG | Malcolm Brogdon | 82 |
SG | Caris LeVert | 82 |
SF | T.J. Warren | 82 |
PF | Domantas Sabonis | 86 |
C | Myles Turner | 79 |
The MyPlayer will see to it that Myles Turner should be benched fairly quickly. After that, every other player is 82 OVR or better. Of all the teams on this list, this is the most well-rounded of the bunch, dominating from top to bottom of the lineup. Domantas Sabonis is an exciting power forward. Combined with a better center, the paint will be virtually untouchable.
Golden State Warriors
PG | Stephen Curry | 96 |
SG | Klay Thompson | 87 |
SF | Andrew Wiggins | 80 |
PF | Draymond Green | 80 |
C | James Wiseman | 77 |
This team will give the MyPlayer the starting role the fastest, as James Wiseman's low 77 OVR will be lower than many players who finish playing in college. The opportunity to play with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson should make and center salivate. Opponents will have to focus on the perimeter, giving them more one-on-one easy buckets.
Milwaukee Bucks
PG | Jrue Holiday | 85 |
SG | Donte DiVincenzo | 79 |
SF | Chris Middleton | 88 |
PF | Giannis Antetokounmpo | 96 |
C | Brook Lopez | 79 |

Even after replacing Brook Lopez, Donte DiVincenzo still only has a 79 OVR, but he won't hurt the team too much when a force like Giannis Antetokounmpo is on the court. This team just finished winning a championship, so any improvement the MyPlayer can make to the lineup is really just gravy for a repeat.
Brooklyn Nets
PG | Kyrie Irving | 91 |
SG | James Harden | 94 |
SF | Joe Harris | 79 |
PF | Kevin Durant | 96 |
C | LaMarcus Aldridge | 79 |
Joe Harris is a real issue for this team. His OVR is 79 but his grades are terrible. Still, aside from him, when the MyPlayer takes over at center, this is the only team with three 90+ OVR players on it. Between superstars Kyrie Irving, James Harden, and Kevin Durant, even Harris can't tank this team away from destiny.
New York Knicks
PG | Kemba Walker | 83 |
SG | Evan Fournier | 79 |
SF | R.J. Barrett | 83 |
PF | Julius Randle | 87 |
C | Mitchell Robinson | 79 |
Evan Fournier is average at best, but he's the only player with any concerns once the MyPlayer starts over Mitchell Robinson. The New York Knicks haven't been exciting to watch for a while. They've gambled and lost too many times. Players might be interested to make the big apple a relevant place to play basketball again.
