After many years of hiatus, and a couple of leaks, Deep Silver officially revealed the Saints Row reboot at Gamescom 2021. The action packed trailer introduces players to the game's new characters and setting, while retaining the patented Saints Row sense of humor and over-the-top nature. It was confirmed shortly after its announcement that the Saints Row reboot will have character customization, after the trailer did not seem to indicate otherwise, it following a single group of characters throughout.
A hallmark of the Saints Row franchise is how customizable the player's character is. Since the original Saints Row, Playa (the player character) has evolved considerably, and it looks like the reboot is still offering limitless control of their appearance. Fans of the series can rest assured, as the upcoming Saints Row reboot will have the most in-depth character customization to date.

In a Twitter thread, Deep Silver answers many questions about the upcoming Saints Row reboot, including ones concerning character customization. The style of the thread has Deep Silver posing questions fans have been asking, and then answering them within the same tweet. For the question, "Can I customise my character in Saints Row?" the developers enthusiastically answer saying, "YES. We have the most in depth character creator in any Saints game. Create who you want." This follows recent confirmation of the Saints Row reboot bringing back layered clothing and vehicle customization.
As the thread continues, Deep Silver offers more information regarding the game's customization opportunities. For this game's Playa, known as The Boss, there are eight total voice options, four male and four female, the largest voice selection in the Saints Row series. Additionally, not only is the The Boss fully customizable, but so are the 'purple shirts' that The Boss recruits to the Saints while playing, Deep Volition noting, "We have some customization options to look forward to for these guys as well." Based on this thread, Deep Volition appears to be very dedicated to offering and expanding on Saints Row's thorough customization options in the reboot.
Unfortunately, there are no further details or visuals on what are some of the customization options for The Boss. Saints Row has changed a lot since the first game, but one of the through-lines has been the control that players have over their character. The reboot looks to be taking the franchise in some new directions as well, but players can look forward to experiencing this with a character that is uniquely their own.
Saints Row is coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on February 25, 2022.
