In Eastward, players will control John as he works together with a girl named Sam to reach the land above --here's how their progress gets saved.

Eastward is the latest indie game to come from developer Pixpil and Stardew Valley publisher Chucklefish. It puts players into the shoes of John, a local miner for the town that is currently caring for a mysterious young girl named Sam. In this action-adventure RPG inspired by games like Earthbound and Zelda, players will have to fight off enemies in dungeons and complete quests to push the narrative further.

Since players will spend dozens of hours to complete Eastward, ensuring that their precious game data is safe and secure is essential. Luckily, players don't have to worry too much about saving their game in Eastward, as there are two ways to go about it.

How to Save Game Progress in Eastward

As soon as PC and Switch owners boot up Eastward for the first time and create their first save file (there are three slots to choose from), a quick message will flash on the screen telling gamers that Eastward, fortunately, saves game progress automatically while playing. However, most players might miss this message since it only stays on the screen for a mere second or two.

The game will save automatically after crucial story moments in Eastward that the player goes through. Gamers will know that the game is saving by a glowing red icon on the bottom-right corner of the screen. Eastward saves frequently, so players don't have to worry too much about manual saving, but it is another viable option for keeping the game progress safe.

How to Save Manually

Eastward players cannot save from the menu, but they can save by visiting any of the refrigerators around town. There happens to be one right at the beginning of the game, once players leave John's RV --the fridge is in front of the vehicle.

How Long Does Eastward Take to Beat?

For players wondering how long John and Sams adventure will take to complete, it should take most players around 30-40 hours. Dozens of more hours can be spent in Eastward if players are looking to find every little thing that the game has to offer, such as recipes and hidden chests. There are also many NPCs to speak to and places to visit, adding even more hours of enjoyment for the die-hard fans out there.

Eastward is available now on Mac, PC, and Switch.
