Despite Apex Legends not having yet hit the Ranked Split (and with that being extended due to Apex Legends’ ongoing server issues), there have been quite a few rumors about season 11. If rumors are to be believed, then not only is a new legend coming to the game, but this season will feature a new, tropical map.
This makes sense when looking at past Apex Legends maps. The second was World’s Edge, introduced in Season 3. The third was Olympus, which was introduced in season 7, and if players count the pre-season or season 0, that means that every four seasons has seen a new map. Of course, this pattern could be something someone relied on to cook up a false rumor, but the possibility of a tropical map is interesting nonetheless. And, once again if rumors are to be believed, fans are getting a Tropical-based legend to go alongside it.

Apex Legend Season 11 Character Leaks
Of course, not much has been leaked about this character and nothing official is coming for several weeks. But what is known is that the character’s name in Apex Legends’ files seems to be Maali. This may not translate to a real name, notably, but some take it as tropical sounding enough to connect the rumored new legend to the rumored new map. Only one line of code seemingly suggests their abilities, and that’s “maali_damage_boost.”
While this could be anything, the most exciting thing it could sound like is a combat-focused support character. Combine this with the overwhelming number of assault characters (there’s 7), the small number of support characters (there’s 2), and there’s definitely room for a new support character. While Lifeline is focused on heals and Loba is focused on finding loot, a new support Legend could give players a damage boost in Apex Legends.
It likely wouldn’t last long, it likely has some restraints like being limited to an AoE, and depending on how Maali’s damage boost would manifest, it could reasonably be a Tactical or Ult. This obviously leaves a couple of other abilities to be determined, but it would be a nice twist on the meta that could end battles sooner and prevent being third-partied. It stands to reason even, as Respawn likes to introduce characters on the stronger end, that Maali could dominate the meta for a couple of weeks like Seer did at Apex Legends season 10's start, if she had such an ability.
Even a few points per bullet, depending on how it impacted guns in Apex Legends, would be a big change, but of course, this remains to be seen. Right now, there’s nothing official on Season 11, there won’t be for a couple of weeks, and Season 10 is going as strong as ever.
Apex Legends is available for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
