The Call of Duty: Vanguard open beta just started mere hours ago, with the beta previously only available to PlayStation users and those that pre-ordered on PC and Xbox. However, Activision has wasted no time extending the Call of Duty: Vanguard open beta dates, giving Call of Duty enthusiasts an extra couple days to play the game ahead of its November 5 launch.
While it was previously expected to wrap up on September 20, the Call of Duty: Vanguard open beta will now continue until Wednesday, September 22 at 10am PT. There will be no new modes or maps added, but Call of Duty: Vanguard players can check out what's already in the beta. This includes traditional Call of Duty multiplayer match types, a handful of maps, and some new modes that are making their debut in Vanguard.

The Call of Duty: Vanguard beta lets players try out two game modes that are making their franchise debut in the new game. This includes the Champion Hill mode, which is like a tournament-style twist on Gunfight, as well as Patrol. Patrol is available to play on the traditional Call of Duty maps in Vanguard, and it plays like a mobile game of King of the Hill, with the point moving continuously.
As for the maps, Call of Duty: Vanguard players can check out four different maps during the open beta period, consisting of Eagle's Nest, Gavutu, Hotel Royal, and Red Star. The full game will have a lot more maps available, with 20 planned for launch. The majority of these Call of Duty: Vanguard multiplayer maps will be for the traditional multiplayer modes, but some are being made for the returning 2v2 Gunfight mode in mind instead.
Most of the Call of Duty: Vanguard multiplayer maps are completely original creations, though some will be pulled from previous games. Call of Duty: Vanguard appears to be taking inspiration from Call of Duty: World at War especially, with World at War maps Dome and Castle already confirmed for Vanguard's launch. And while those are the only confirmed returning maps so far, a reputable leaker has given fans an idea of what else to expect.
According to the rumors, Call of Duty: Vanguard will have Shipment at some point, bringing the fan favorite map from Call of Duty 4 to yet another game. Not only that, but the Sub Pens map, another World at War creation, is also expected to come to Call of Duty: Vanguard at some point as well. Those two maps haven't been confirmed by anyone official yet, though, so fans should keep that in mind.
Call of Duty: Vanguard launches November 5 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
