With only a few weeks until release, Bravely Default 2 is showcasing more of the world players will traverse when they pick the game up on February 26. Bravely Default 2 features a new cast, and a new world to explore, with players adventuring across the continent of Excillant. In the latest update from Square Enix, the fifth and final nation in Excillant has been revealed along with the jobs found there.
The marketing push for Bravely Default 2 has been interesting to say the least, as all of the information about the nations of Excillant and the various job classes has come from Japanese sources only. Square Enix posted a Japanese trailer showing off the Rimedahl region of Bravely Default 2, and this latest batch of screenshots was posted to the game's Japanese website. The emphasis in Western markets has definitely been the demo of the game.

But for fans looking to get the inside scoop on the game, the Japanese info drops are the way to go. The latest details focus on the Military Nation of Holograd, described as a nation with 300 years of history started when a single hero unified the tribes of the barren wastelands. The nation is aggressive, annexing neighboring countries and causing conflict. While that sounds similar to the role of Eisenberg from the first games in the series, Bravely Default 2 is breaking away from the original games, so expect the similarities to end there.
Living in Holograd will be a few Asterisk holders that will give the main characters new jobs to master, like Adamas Holograd, the descendent of the hero who founded Holograd. He prioritizes strength above all else, and holds the Hellblade Asterisk. The Hellblade job allows players to use their own HP to charge their demonic sword with elemental attributes and strike down foes. Seems like having a Priest in the party will help balance this job out.
Maddock Ronsdale, a general in Holograd who has sworn loyalty to Adamas despite having some reservations. He holds the Judgement Asterisk (possibly the Bastion Asterisk based on the URL associated with the job class), which balances offense with a solid defense. It can cast a barrier on all allies to negate damage.
Mora holds the Phantom Asterisk, and works as one of Adamas' subordinates while hiding her feelings for him. The Phantom job uses two short swords, and has high speed and evasion to avoid enemy attacks and strike quickly. A classic job that brings to mind the Ninja job seen in Final Fantasy games.
The final Asterisk holder is Vigine Isaac, who works for Adamas and holds the Arcanist Asterisk. He is a mage of dubious origin, and claims to have mastered the magic of death. The Arcanist job has powerful spells to destroy enemies, but those spells can sometimes pull in allies.
With all the nations of Excillant revealed, this could be the last major piece of information released about the game before release. A recently filed trademark by Square Enix could offer a hint as to a potential subtitle for Bravely Default 2, but besides that, this could be all that fans get until the end of February when the game will be on store shelves.
Bravely Default 2 will be available on February 26 for the Nintendo Switch.
