Fortnite is no stranger when it comes to crossovers and colllaborations. Over the past few years, the title has become near-synonymous with bringing in a copious amount of other franchises and IPs onto the island. While Fortnite is continuing its trend of collaborating with outside entities, the latest one may leave some players scratching their heads: luxury fashion house Balenciaga.
Epic Games' enduringly popular free-to-play battle royale title started its eigth season last week. The new season comes with a redesigned quest interface and Season 8 Battle Pass, which features an interesting mix of characters. Fortnite's latest Battle Pass primarily features original skins, with the only major crossover skin being Marvel's Carnage. While its curious Season 8 doesn't appear to be as crossover-heavy with characters, the collab with Balenciaga could be the answer.

Detailed via a blog post on the official Fortnite website, "Digital Fashion" is headed to the game. Starting September 20 at 8pm eastern, players will be able to access to a variety of authentically designed Balenciaga skins and cosmetics. Ramirez, Doggo, Banshee, and Game Knight have are all decked out in the latest threads from the luxury fashion brand, sporting a chic streetwear look. Along with the quartet of skins are an equal amount of Balenciaga Back Bling backpacks, which appear to match the outfits. Players can also snag the Speed Sneaker Pickaxe, Parasail Purse Glider, Signature Look Wrap, and The Look Emote.
In addition to the drop of Balenciaga cosmetics, Fortnite players can share and show off their style in the new Strange Times Featured Hub. Somewhat similar to the NBA Creative Hub earlier this year, the Strange Times Hub transports participants into a strange city, complete with a virtual Balenciaga store. From September 21-28, players can drop in to hang out with fashion-forward friends, switch up their look with Changing Booths, and even pick up the Balenciaga Fit Outfits from the virtual store. Strange Times is also covered in billboards, which will feature participants in the currently-running Fortography challenge.
While its clear Balenciaga is arriving in Fortnite, Fortnite is also arriving in Balenciaga. The Fortnite x Balenciaga collection launches today, giving players an opportunity to rep their game on some expensive clothes, and expensive they are. A Fortnite hat goes for $395, a t-shirt for $495, and a large fit jacket clocking in at a whopping $1,290. Even a plain white shirt will cost players $1000, so gamers may want to start saving up if they want to claim a piece of the collection.
While Fortnite's collaboration with a luxury fashion brand seems like an odd one, its not as odd as Afterworld: The Age of Tomorrow, the video game Balenciaga released to promote its clothing line.
Fortnite is free-to-play on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One. and Xbox Series X/S.
