A weapon can go from good to great with the right weapon trinket in Deathloop. These are the difference makers and the non-factors.

Every build in Deathloop starts and ends with guns. Yes, some of the slabs are ridiculously powerful, character trinkets can shape the gameplay, and hacking adds a unique dynamic, but guns are what do the heavy lifting. Each one feels unique and has a role to play depending on the circumstances.

So fine-tuning these guns becomes more than just a hobby. The right weapon trinkets can completely change the weapon's abilities and usefulness. Deathloop will throw a ton of selections Colt's way and it is the player's job to decide which ones belong on their best guns and which ones are better off disintegrated for extra residuum.

S-Tier

  • Mind Leech: Shots damage both health and power.
  • Stopping Power: Shots slow the start of the opponent's health regeneration.
  • Lightning Strike: Increase full-damage range.

There are only two trinkets that apply specifically to attacks against Julianna/Colt and both of them are on this list. Because this opponent is the biggest obstacle to victory, these trinkets are automatically top-tier stuff. Lightning Strike increases full-damage range, turning shotguns, machineguns, and pistols into weapons that are effective at ranges that ordinarily require sniper rifles.

A-Tier

  • Big Box: Expanded magazine.
  • Hailfire: Increased rate of fire.
  • Straight Shooter: Aimed shot accuracy increased.
  • Sure Shot: Range of accuracy increased.

Hailfire and Big Box combine to keep players shooting without having to stop and reload or switch weapons and shooting quickly, directly increasing damage against Visionaries and player opponents. Straight Shooter and Sure Shot also combine beautifully, turning weapons into sniper rifles without the kick. Put these on a silenced pistol and take the fear out of striking from the shadows.

B-Tier

  • Mobile Marksman: Movement speed while aiming increased.
  • Perforator: Bullets punch through enemies.
  • Quick Draw: Switches weapons faster.
  • Shock Absorber: Recoil is reduced.

Mobile Marksman can be nice, but aiming while moving quickly defeats much of the purpose of aiming. Perforator will kill enemies that line up perfectly, but enemies are rarely lined up and those who are are easy to clear out anyhow. A gun that rewards players for switching to another gun is a tad self-defeating, even if it does help. Reducing recoil is phenomenal on some weapons, but that number is less than half of the available weapons.

F-Tier

  • Crack Shot: Aiming takes less time.
  • Hipster: Increased accuracy from the hip.
  • Speedloader: Faster reload.

Aiming already takes very little time and players are able to fire during the aim process and get credit for the aim to accuracy. Firing from the hip is fine, especially while dual-wielding, but accuracy isn't an important stat during these instances, reduced recoil makes much more sense. Speedloader is impressive, cutting down reload times to almost nothing, but why not switch weapons instead when the clip is dry during these intense moments?
