Blizzard has brought a new live-action trailer for Diablo 2: Resurrected today, featuring the new Marvel star of Shang-Chi, Simu Liu.

As part of a glorious return for a beloved franchise, the second Diablo game is getting the remastered treatment with Diablo 2: Resurrected. The game is set to arrive on September 23 and offers a whole set of improvements, including better optimization for next-generation consoles, with Blizzard even boasting about its performance capabilities on the Nintendo Switch.

To get fans even more excited about the upcoming arrival of the game, Blizzard has released a trailer on YouTube featuring Shang-Chi star Simu Liu. In it, Simu Liu plays a priest walking into a creepy-looking church, searching for the confessional.

Once there, Simu Liu sits down with a priest and confesses that he needs forgiveness for the sin he is about to commit. However, in order to complete the task ahead of him, he will need to succumb to greed to obtain the power he desires to kill his enemies. As the lighting slowly changes to a dark red, the trailer ends with Liu submitting to his inner darkness, and the Diablo 2: Resurrected logo flashes on screen in flames.

Many fans have welcomed Simu Liu into the lore of Diablo, even making a couple of jokes about how this looks like the sequel to Shang-Chi. Adding to the fan lore that Shang-Chi entered the dark dimension to save his parents after discovering that they are being held captive by the Prime Evil. Some have even gone as far as to say that this is one of the best live-action trailers for video games they have ever seen. All of this is coming to the conclusion that there should be a live-action Diablo movie with Simu Liu's involvement one day.

Some of the other Diablo 2: Resurrected features that are being offered to fans are improved graphics of monsters, heroes, items, and spells. These graphical improvements even boost the resolution up to 4K. Other enhancements include updated Battle.net support and cross-progression between consoles. All while maintaining the same classic gameplay that many fans have come to enjoy over the years.

Hopefully, this new trailer gets fans excited for the hours of demon-slaying they will succumb to. It seems many people in the comments are more excited than ever, and with only two days left, they will soon be able to dive into the hellscape in pursuit of the treacherous Dark Wanderer.

Diablo 2: Resurrected launches September 23rd for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
