Right now, Apex Legends developer Respawn Entertainment is hard at work attempting to stabilize the game’s servers. Some bugs and technical issues have been addressed, but a larger fix for Apex Legends' servers is expected on Wednesday, September 22. Of course, even with this in mind, the game is always looking at what’s next.
For example, while the introduction of Big Maude on World’s Edge has introduced players to a new P.O.I. in Apex Legends, a new event is apparently beginning soon. Well-known Apex Legends dataminer Shrugtal has unveiled new details regarding a new “story” event that focuses on Bloodhound and sees the return of PvE, which hasn’t been seen since season 5’s Broken Ghost quest.

This new quest/event, titled “Old Ways, New Dawn,” focuses on Bloodhound’s conflict with Hammond’s destruction of World’s Edge, at least based on the teasers for it in trailers for Apex Legends’ current season. According to Shrugtal, this event is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, September 28. It’ll feature a few updates before ending just before the Monsters event, which then lasts throughout the rest of the season.
In this event, Apex Legends players will be able to face off against NPCs instead of other players unlike the most recent stories and quests which have been pure mediums for storytelling. Shrugtal only cites “a little combat,” but still, it’s something the game hasn’t seen in over five seasons. It’s unknown if this is the start of a new trend, but character-focused story events with emphasis on PvE combat may be welcomed by many.
Shrugtal says the introduction quest is on September 28, 2021, with the first part beginning on September 29. The second part will follow on October 2, and the third part and finale will unlock on October 5. Whatever happens with the finale, it’s expected to last in-game until the Monsters event, which seems like part of Apex Legends' Halloween events, on October 12.
Completing all parts will give players three Apex Legends packs that unlock new cosmetics (rare and higher) for Bloodhound, and there is a new skin for Bloodhound overall as part of the event. It’s not free, however, and will need to be purchased either standalone or in a bundle. Right now, the skin is showing a black Artur due to a glitch, but Shrugtal says it’s supposed to be the White Raven teased in the trailer, something that will hopefully be fixed sooner rather than later.
Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
