Since Marvel announced they would be rebooting Fantastic Four, fans have been placing their bets on who will be cast in the film remake. Fans have been creating their own versions of the new Fantastic Four cast on various platforms like TikTok and Reddit since recieving confirmation of the reboot in 2020. Amongst some of the most popular fan choices to play the part of Johnny Storm are Zac Efron, Dacre Montgomery, KJ Apa and Ross Lynch.
Even Kevin Feige has spoken about his casting plans for the upcoming project, offering some insight as to how he aims to reassemble the team by uniting well-known starpower with talented newcomers. Feige referenced Shang-Chi star Simu Liu as a perfect example of how actors don’t need to make a name for themselves to perform well in the MCU. Although nothing has been confirmed about who will take up the Human Torch mantle from there’s a long list of potential candidates who would make the perfect Johnny Storm.

Alex Pettyfer
Alex Pettyfer has been in a diverse grouping of films and television shows throughout his career, proving he’s capable of successfully tackling any role thrown his way. Some of his more notable projects include the 2011 film I Am Number Four, as well as the raunchy 2012 dramedy Magic Mike. With his blond hair and piercing eyes, Pettyfer definitely looks the part of Johnny Storm as seen in Marvel Comics, and his previous works demonstrate his ability to bring Storm’s charismatic charm to life.
Sinqua Walls
Sinqua Walls has appeared in numerous popular titles over the years, including Grey’s Anatomy, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Once Upon a Time, Friday Night Lights and Teen Wolf. His Teen Wolf character, Vernon Boyd, particularly showcased Walls’ ability to play superhuman characters, making him an excellent choice for Fantastic Four member Johnny Storm. Walls’ acting was most definitely up to par in all of his previous work, but he has yet to be the star of any major movie, or television series. Taking on the role of Human Torch would definitely give Walls the screen time and recognition he deserves as an actor, all while giving fans the perfect Johnny Storm.
Christopher Wood
Christopher Wood has made a name for himself thanks to his appearances in numerous CW television series. Wood played a cocky, wise-cracking villain in the hit fantasy romance, The Vampire Diaries, and dabbled in heroics during his time on Supergirl. His experience with the world of superheroes and creating characters with a knack for sarcasm make him an excellent candidate for Marvel’s Johnny Storm.
Rick Gonzalez
Rick Gonzalez is another great actor that’s been a superhero before. Like Christopher Wood, Gonzalez starred in a DC Comics-inspired CW series, Arrow, where he played Rene Ramirez. Ramirez is better known as Wild Dog, a vigilante turned hero that has a track record of making brash decisions and can be quite arrogant at times. Both of these traits are defining parts of Johnny Storm’s personality, so it’s safe to assume Gonzalez would bring the same level of finesse to the MCU as Human Torch that he delivered to the CW Arrowverse.
Will Tudor
Will Tudor is best known for his character Olyvar in Game of Thrones, but he was also a crucial player in the 2016 Shadowhunters series on Freeform. Tudor’s character Sebastian was both deceptive and beguiling, coming off almost as if he were an evil version of Johnny Storm. Like Pettyfer, Tudor definitely looks similar to the Johnny Storm originally introduced in Marvel Comics, but his experience with fantasy elements and playing characters with superhuman abilities would translate brilliantly into an MCU Fantastic Four remake.
Any of these actors would bring a unique flair to Johnny Storm’s character, but until Marvel announces the official cast left, fans are left to speculate about who will land the role. MCU viewers are still turning to social media to share their thoughts on which actors are best suited for each role in the revamped Fantastic Four series, casting actors for Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, and The Thing.
It’ll no doubt be difficult for the new Human Torch to match the performance Chris Evans gave in 2005, especially since Evans has gone on to create such a monumental impact on the Marvel Universe, but the future of the Fantastic Four will be a lot brighter with some new faces in the franchise. However, some longtime Marvel fans are hopeful that Evans will make a guest appearance, now that the possibility of variants has been introduced into the multiverse, although it is unlikely.
It’s unclear whether or not the Fantastic Four reboot will be released as part of Phase 4 or beyond, but the MCU has already started forming connections in their current projects to hint at the future appearance of this beloved team.
