Sea of Thieves’ Season 4 adds new Siren Shrines and Treasuries, as well as fresh cosmetics, additional ship parts, and plenty of rewards.

2021 has been one of Sea of Thieves' biggest years yet, with the game expanding its content, bringing in tons of new players, and offering its community plenty of events to keep them playing. The game has even just come off a collaboration with Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean, with Season 3 adding a mission that allowed players to team up with Captain Jack Sparrow.

With the themed content now concluded, Sea of Thieves has launched a brand new wave of content, with Season 4 adding treasures to discover, cosmetics to show off, and rewards to claim. However, the big addition this time around are the Siren Shrines and Treasuries, with the brand new set of activities seeing players plunge into the ocean in search of loot to plunder.

According to Rare's Season 4 trailer, there will be multiple Siren Shrines and Treasuries added to the player's map once they install the update, with crews able to locate their exact locations by seeking out purple shimmers that appear above the surface of the ocean. Siren Shrines will task players with completing various challenges, promising big rewards for those who brave them. Meanwhile, Siren Treasuries will offer a more straight-up brawl, seeing players eviscerate waves of sirens and other ocean-bound baddies to claim their loot.

According to Rare, the plunder for both mission types will fetch a high price with traders, although pirates won't have to walk all their loot back to their ship after nabbing it. The trailer reveals they'll instead be able to use statues to safely store their plunder, allowing them to easily grab it upon returning to the surface. Rare also teases another new mission type revolving around coral-encrusted bottles, with the items leading them on new adventures to recover lucrative artifacts.

As for the rest of the update, it adds plenty of rewards and cosmetics to Sea of Thieves. The Siren-based missions will come with a set of new commendations, which will allow players to unlock the Sunken Sorrow ship parts, new scars, and various weapons. Completing all the commendations will even unlock the Coral Curse, which will allow players to kit their pirates out with eerie glowing eyes and markings.

There's an additional 100 levels of free unlockable rewards too, with the Siren's Wrath ship parts and the Wicked Web clothing set included in the mix. A new purchasable plunder pass is also part of the lineup, offering some exclusive Sea of Thieves cosmetics for players to collect. The main loot on offer is the Jack-O-Looter costume and weapons, which will get players prepped for the Halloween season. Season 4 will run for the next few months and is sure to offer players plenty of fun new reasons to tune into Sea of Thieves.

Sea of Thieves is out now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
