Calamity Ganon is the main villain in Breath of the Wild, but this glitch leaves him nowhere to be found right before the game's final battle.

As Nintendo gets ready to release its sequel at some point in 2022, many fans have been returning to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to once again save the broken land of Hyrule from Calamity Ganon and his many followers. For one player, however, Ganon seems to have left Hyrule altogether before the final battle even began.

In a video posted to the sub-Reddit r/Zelda by Reddit user u/Chicken_Vomit_, Link shows to up to fight Calamity Ganon at the end of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but after entering his chamber, Ganon is nowhere to be found. It results in a comical moment where Link enters the room ready for a fight against his largest villain, only to be left alone looking like he's wondering if he got the address wrong.

The video starts with u/Chicken_Vomit_ doing a glitch that involves Link speeding across the sky while seemingly holding a bomb. This is a newly discovered speedrunning trick that's called Bow Lift Smuggling and can be used to travel great distances in short amounts of time by tricking the game into thinking that Link is being constantly pushed by the bomb.

If they're deep enough into the Breath of the Wild speedrunning scene to know how to use a Bow Lift Smuggle, then it's likely that the original poster was doing other glitches as well and created a combination that could have caused Ganon not to spawn for the final fight. That said, it's very unlikely that they could have done something to completely despawn the final enemy, especially since they're nowhere near him at the start of the video.

At the end of the day, this seems like it might just be a bizarre glitch, but if it can be replicated and if players can find a way to trigger the final boss fight with Dark Beast Ganon without having to fight his first form, it could end up being a useful trick for certain speedrunning categories.

As the currently untitled Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sequel draws closer, plenty of fans have been predicting the role that Ganon is going to play as he was seemingly defeated in the first title. Direct sequels to Zelda games usually go in different directions, but the handful of trailers for the game make it seem like the villain might continue to play a crucial part in the game's story.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is available on Nintendo Switch.
