The 1988 horror film Child's Play gave birth to a memorable horror franchise starring the menacing killer doll known as Chucky. While attempts to bring Child's Play to the video game medium haven't had much luck in the past, one fan hasn't let that stop them from designing a Chucky-themed custom PS4 controller.
ChuckyDutchie88 created this custom design using the online photo editor Photopea, and while some gamers may find it a bit rough around the edges, it certainly gets its point across. Chucky's kitschy but terrifying presence is clear on this controller design, which draws on the original movies to evoke a mix of childish tackiness and visceral dread.

The controller itself is a bright lemon yellow with black buttons, but a liberal amount of blood splatter appears to have dripped down the upper left corner and over part of the directional buttons. This isn't the first time a custom PlayStation controller has been modeled after a fictional character, but ChuckyDutchie88's creation stands out in that its design actually features the character in question. Large, sticker-type decals have been added to each of the controller's handles, with the right decal showing Chucky as a seemingly innocent doll while the left decal shows him with a heavily scarred face and a knife. The controller also features the name of the "Good Guys" doll Chucky inhabits in the upper right corner and what seem to be torn playing cards stuck at the very ends of the handles.
While this controller design may be a bit cluttered, featuring both a variety of very bright colors and Chucky's face, it certainly acts as a striking tribute to a horror franchise that should be adapted for PS5 or Xbox Series X. However, several other Redditors have questioned the specifics of the design. One user even asked why ChuckyDutchie88 had chosen Chucky as the theme of the design, possibly because they overlooked ChuckyDutchie88's choice of user name.
As of writing, the controller design has garnered a largely cool reception from other fans, but a few have expressed their interest in using it. One user stated that this controller would make every game feel like Child's Play, while another said that as a horror fan, they would definitely play with it. A third user said they liked the design, but weren't a fan of Chucky. With SYFY's Chucky TV show coming in October, it appears that some horror fans--and PS4 fans--are getting ready to show their appreciation for the character.
