The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is one of the most popular Nintendo games in history and is considered by many to be a legendary title. This means a lot of fans have taken on odd challenges over the years, and now one fan has beaten Ocarina of Time without ever using a sword - the game's main weapon.
YouTuber Sam Bliss recently posted a video titled "I Beat Zelda Without Using A Sword" to his channel, and it sees him clearing a particularly striking challenge run of Ocarina of Time. When he says he beat the game, he means that he cleared all the dungeons and acquired all the Spiritual Stones and Medallions, which apparently took him just under seven hours. Fortunately, the video has a runtime of just 13:32 minutes.

Sam Bliss began his run by buying out the shop's entire supply of sticks and using exploits to access the game's first dungeon without having to get a sword. While he was at it, he collected Zelda's Letter and Zelda's Lullaby, which would allow him to access the second and third dungeons, before returning to Ocarina of Time's iconic Kokiri Forest location. As he quickly went through the other dungeons the game has to offer, he explained the main glitch he was using in this playthrough: ISG, the Infinite Sword Glitch, which allows Link to go through fewer sticks.
Although some bosses' attack patterns made it difficult to defeat them without a sword, Sam Bliss ultimately managed it and gathered all the Spiritual Stones. However, as sticks don't work for adult Link, the YouTuber had to use another glitch to equip them while he found an alternative way to deal damage. He soon acquired the Megaton Hammer, used the bottle to reflect attacks instead of a sword, and used saving and resetting to traverse the Ocarina of Time dungeons and gather the Medallions. Unfortunately, Sam Bliss soon discovered that only Din's Fire would damage Dark Link without the sword.
Sam Bliss also had some trouble dealing with Twinrova, as he couldn't use the hammer and the Mirror Shield at the same time. However, once he got the timing down, things proceeded smoothly until he encountered Bongo Bongo at the Shadow Temple. As few of Link's other weapons could harm Bongo Bongo, Sam Bliss had to find a new stick glitch. After all of that, beating Ocarina of Time's Ganon appears to have been relatively easy, despite the YouTuber refusing to equip the Master Sword until the very end of the game - and then refusing to use it in favor of the Megaton Hammer. With this being such an incredible feat, the video is worth a watch for The Legend of Zelda fans.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is available on Nintendo 64 and 3DS.
