World of Warcraft: Shadowlands continues to expand on World of Warcraft’s already massive worldbuilding. New in-game items and collectibles have been added to the mix, which also means new tasks and riddles are waiting to be solved. While unlocking the Harmonic Chest is easy, it will require some cooperation and caution from the player if they plan on walking away with the spoils.
The Harmonic Chest is one of many new treasures to be found in Shadowlands. There isn’t a quest attached to it, but the process can be tedious if the player doesn’t have what they need.

Finding the Harmonic Chest
Locating the Harmonic Chest isn’t difficult. It’s located northeast of Tirna Vaal in the upper part of Ardenweald. Curious players will realize that the chest cannot be opened. The key to it can’t be looted or found from enemies, nor can it be found inside another chest. Rushing to the other continents won’t do the player any good either.
The reveal is that the key, or rather keys, are right next to the Harmonic Chest itself.
Undoing the Lock
If the player looks closely, they’ll see a drum with purple leaves for batter heads and a small gray harp with a bluish glow. The Harmonic Chest does not open with a regular WoW key, but it will respond to the sound of music.
However, a single player can’t play one instrument and rush over to another. When they click, a green cast bar will appear. If the player breaks away, the process will be interrupted and the music from one instrument will stop. Thus, to open the chest, there must be two players.
Have someone play the harp while another plays the drums. Eventually, the chest will open to be looted. This needs to be done before it closes again. Players who choose the harp are closer to the chest, but the distance shouldn’t make much of a difference if the drummer reacts quickly enough. The Harmonic Chest will also stay open for a handful of seconds, allowing both players enough time if they’re paying attention.
The good news is characters of different World of Warcraft factions can work together to open the chest.
The bad news is once the instruments have been interacted with, the player can’t interact with them again. For example, if the harp player loots the chest but the drummer does not, then neither one of them can replay the instruments. They’ll need other players who’ve never interacted with the instruments to open it for them.

The Spoils
Inside the Harmonic Chest is a Fae Harp and a Songwood Stem. The Fae Harp is a Unique Toy item that plays a melody when clicked. The Songwood Stem is an off-hand item that grants +64 Intellect, +35 Stamina, +15 Critical Strike, and +29 Haste. Both items Bind when picked up and can only be used by Levels 48+.
The rest of the loot is a Coin of Brokerage and 5x Misty Shimmerleaf, which infuses 5 stored Anima into the Covenant’s Reservoir.
Not everyone is going to be pleased with the Harmonic Chest’s contents. Before traveling to Ardenweald, players should decide whether it’s worth making the trip and if they should spend time hunting down another player to unlock the chest.
