While plenty has been said about those that dislike the second The Last of Us game due to its risky story, it is worth noting that many gamers appreciate the entire series. Those that are passionate about The Last of Us love showing it, too, with amazing fan creations being shared often.
These range from awesome cosplays and tattoos to full-on fan films based on The Last of Us. Fan art is incredibly common as well, with posters, paintings, and drawings being created and shared regularly with the game’s community. One of the most talented members of The Last of Us fan base is Twitter user @IconicNephilim, who previously shared an amazing set of posters depicting the journeys of Ellie and Joel.

While @IconicNephilim had previously released a few dozen posters based on the story of the series, the fan celebrated The Last of Us Day with a single image that encompasses both games in the franchise. There is a lot to love about the art, as iconic imagery and characters from the two titles are featured. Beginning at the bottom of the image, a young Ellie can be seen walking with her father figure Joel, calling back to their earliest days together in the original game. A nice touch sees the Fireflies’ catchphrase and Sam’s toy behind them.
Ellie’s time on the Farm with JJ and Dina is represented, as are Yara and Lev. A terrifying clicker can be seen on the right side of the poster, while important figures like Tommy feature in the middle. Joel’s The Last of Us 2 design takes up a large chunk of the art, with Abby seen directly to the left of him. A neat artistic touch sees her standing between Joel and her father, showing her inability to move on. Likewise, Joel’s daughter Sarah is seen to his right.
While the upper right is made up of more standout supporting characters like Bill and Marlene, it is Ellie who takes up the entirety of the top left corner. The largest figure by far, and for good reason, Ellie is seen pulling an arrow from her backpack. While all the characters look great, it is the little details that make the poster truly special. The Last of Us 2 players should notice Joel’s guitar and Ellie leaping off a dinosaur at the museum, while fans of the first game should appreciate the giraffes. With the aquarium represented, too, love is shown for all things The Last of Us.
While it remains to be seen where The Last of Us series goes after Factions is released, @IconicNephilim has done an incredible job of paying homage to the first two games. The artist picked a perfect time to release their latest piece, too, as their work has helped make 2021’s The Last of Us Day even more special.
