Netflix's new Army of Thieves trailer introduces fans to the team of experts that will be involved in three epic heists across Europe.

Netflix and Zack Snyder are all set to take fans back to the world of zombies with Army of Thieves releasing next month. The film’s first teaser was revealed by Snyder back in July, and a new extended trailer has just been released by Netflix that re-introduces fans to the film’s star Ludwig Dieter, portrayed by Matthias Schweighöfer.

The upcoming film works as a prequel to Snyder’s Army of the Dead, which was released on Netflix and in select theaters in May of this year. Schweighöfer’s character Dieter became a fan-favorite when the original film premiered, and Army of Thieves will take fans on his journey of becoming a fantastic safecracker.

Fans have already seen what happens when a group of soldiers went to a zombie-infested Las Vegas and tried to rob an underground vault on the popular Strip. Army of Thieves will now show them what happens when a group of extremely smart hackers and thieves come together to rob banks across Europe, which is slowly being overrun by the undead. Of course, Army of Thieves will focus less on the zombies, with the priority being the heists.

The new trailer offers a look at this Army of the Dead prequel, where Dieter is hired by a team of professionals, lead by Nathalie Emmanuel’s Gwendoline, to get into some very tricky vaults. The video begins with him winning a safecracking competition and being scouted by Gwendoline immediately after. Even though he claims to not be a criminal, he is immediately interested in the plan because it involves a lot of money and a “life less ordinary.” Additionally, the world is obviously distracted by the zombie apocalypse, which offers the team the perfect window to go in and out of several banks without being detected. Apart from Gwendoline and Dieter, the Army of Thieves team consists of Ruby O. Fee as Korina the master hacker, Guz Khan as Rolph the getaway driver, and Stuart Martin as Brad Cage, their real-life action hero.

The team discovers the location of three of the world’s most important and secure safes. All of them happen to be under the ownership of “infamous billionaire” Bly Tanaka, played by Hiroyuki Sanada. Fans will remember him from Army of the Dead, as he is the one responsible for sending the team of soldiers into Las Vegas.

Schweighöfer will be stepping into the director’s shoes for Army of Thieves, with Snyder taking on the role of producer. Army of Thieves is just the latest entry in the Army of the Dead franchise, with an anime prequel series titled Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas also slated for future release.

Army of Thieves is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on October 29, 2021.
