Eric Pfeiffer, a concept artist at Bungie, recently unveiled some Destiny 2 concept art. The concept art revolved around Destiny 2’s Season of the Lost event and some unique weapons that players could obtain.
Pfeiffer said of the art that his goal was to make the weapons appear as if they would “create a unique series of tones as they were fired.” He also stated that he had envisioned each weapon making a unique sound based on the warrior that it was given to. One fan connected this concept back to Destiny 2's story itself.

A commenter said that these unique tones counteract the effects of Savathun’s song, displaying a deep appreciation for the thought that went into the weapon designs. Many fans left similar comments about how much they loved the designs and the insights that Pfeiffer provided. Destiny 2 players have been frustrated as of late, but almost all of them expressed adoration for the art.
The concept art is very similar to what Destiny 2 players ended up getting in the final product. Many players were able to immediately identify the auto rifle Chrysura Melo, as well as the grenade launcher Canis Major. Pfeiffer himself seemingly displayed a love for the shotgun Fractethyst, as he posted the weapon by itself.
Another commenter noted that many of the new additions in Season of the Lost were based on music. The weapons featured in the tweet were clearly inspired by instruments, but some of their perks are based in music as well. The commenter listed the perks Harmony, Adagio, and Ensemble as examples. Even some of the new Destiny 2 mods have musical inspirations.
The tweet made it very clear that a lot of thought went into designing the weapons of Destiny 2. Everything about the weapons shown was based on a theme of music, and everything about their designs complements that theme. Even the sounds the weapons make when fired are inspired by music. Clearly, there was a lot of passion and hard work that went into those creations, and many commenters expressed gratitude to Pfeiffer for sharing his insights with them. Some even took the time to dispel misconceptions about Destiny 2 and its quality in general.
Many fans are excited to see what Bungie has in store next. There are a lot of fans who want this same care put into a new pulse rifle for Destiny 2. But one thing is certain: weapons that will be available will be thoughtfully designed and lovingly crafted.
Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S.
