Diablo 2: Resurrected players who have moved on from the original game might be feeling a little bad about leaving their favorite characters behind. Especially those committed fans who still played the old title regularly.
No matter how old the character, Diablo 2 players only need to complete a few simple steps to import it into Diablo 2: Resurrected. However, there are some requirements that must be met in order for the save to be compatible with the remastered version of the game.

How to Import Old Characters in Diablo 2: Resurrected
To import a character from Diablo 2 into Diablo 2: Resurrected, the character needs to meet two requirements:
- Be an Offline character
- Be imported to a PC version of Diablo 2: Resurrected
This means any old Online characters are not transferable to the new remastered version. Additionally, even though Diablo 2: Resurrected has cross progression between consoles and PC, an old save cannot be imported on PC and then played on a console.
If players have a character that meets these requirements, they can follow these steps to import their old characters:
- On the computer with Diablo 2 installed go to This PC > Local Disk (C:) > Users > (The players' username) > Saved Games
From here, go to the Diablo 2 folder and locate the character's name to be imported. It's the file with a .d2s at the end of its name. Copy this and go back, and then click into the Diablo 2: Resurrected folder and paste the file. As long as it's an Offline character, it will now be playable in the remastered version.
For the Diablo 2: Resurrected folder to be in the Saved Games folder, at least one character needs to have already been made in the new version. This can be any class, but players can prepare a future powerful build like the "Bowazon" Archer Amazon build if they plan on using it in the future. However, this character just needs to be created to make the folder appear so the old character can be pasted into that location.
It's not just character stats that transfer either. The imported character will bring its stash and inventory over with them too. This is great for anybody who farmed for high level equipment or rare runes in Diablo 2 to achieve perfect stats for each build.
To really make the character feel at home, players can even switch to Legacy Mode in Diablo 2: Resurrected to revert the graphics back to how they used to be.
Diablo 2: Resurrected is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
